Do you think if I wear my Team Sky replica kit, I'll be bumped up to the pro batch?

Depends on WHAT bike you riding?

Depends on YOUR PHYSIC?

Depends on IF YOU RIDING WITH a SADDLE BAG?

Depends on IF you HAVE CAMERA STICKERS O THE Bike / Helmet?

Good points. I'll get myself a saddle bag then. Thanks for the advice.

But I think I'll los the camera stickers on my helmut - I'm just going to tattoo my race number to my guns bru (gonna cut the sleeves off my jersey - called a Gillette or something, but looks cool).

I try that every ride - hasn't happened yet :-(

You can have my old one. Used it to carry the spare fork, cassette, 2 spokes, spare pedals and my footpump. Not gonna need it this year cos the race goes past my house.

I think I am ready, I went and found every possible steep hill around Jozi yesterday and climbed them all out.

Still on that steel bike though.

Attach a a magnet to the bike in front of you, One of those monster ones you find on the old car speakers we had. It will pull you along. Just like Magneto in the latest X Men movie. Its a sure thing.

Sweet bike. But it's missing something. I think it will look a lot better if you had this on (will make you super fast on the hills too, so you have a chance to keep up with Carpet):

Are you referring to the bike stand?

Hahahah

You are so funny today.

I would need the magnet on my bike to hold onto Wyatt's wheel.

Now that I've done 80% of the new route, I must admit that I really like it, a lot.

Although having to negotiate traffic in the "north" is not my idea of fun.

I hear you Gerald, I did a recon ride this weekend and did all of the route except the motorways (I chickened out there) and the section inside Steyn City.

AND I'll say this, although I really like the new route, its definitely tougher than the old one with a good bit more climbing... I recon add an extra 15 min to the licences groups times and anything up to an hour for the guy who hasn't trained and rocks up in a cows suit.

What hill is this?

At first I thought Northcliff, but now... Not so sure...

I see Sandton City in the background...

Linksfield maybe...?

It's called High Hill, as you take a left off Kloof you ascend even higher.

Proper 39 blade stuff, one can still get up Northcliff in the 53 .

My training has kind of petered out. Was going full tilt for 4 months while on a sabbatical and then started a new job which has taken the wind out of my training sails.

Best I can do is get those Rovals from Wyatt, try them this weekend, do a few interval sessions on the IDT and then give it stick in 2 weeks time. Pray that I don't get struck down with gastro again like last year. That was interesting and very uncomfortable come the N14...

Have a blast on the day.
