I would love an enve stem. Had to get a matching spez stem with the venge and carbon bars :) had to match!!! Really enjoying the bars. Can't tell diff with stem, but looks the part

My giant 70mm stem is the only giant component on my anthem but I just couldn't justify spending R1000 on a sweet looking stem like the Thomson or the Easton Haven. One day maybe, if I've got cash literally burning a hole in my pocket.

Mainly confidence... I'd rather have a stem that's machined from a single piece of x-rayed billet (Thomson) than one that's cast and then machined with less than ideal quality control (KCNC). It's strength in a place I'm unwilling to compromise on.

There are plenty in between that are perfectly good - BBB, Truvativ etc.

Also it looks cooler and has less pointy bits to hit your squishy bits on should you dismount into it.

Just my R0.02...

Oh, and mine was closer to R 1.5k than R 2.5k, but I get your point. It's a lot. But like a King headset, you'll only ever need to buy one.

This is the most important difference!

Pretty sure that Zipp 145,Enve and new Ritchey C265 are all carbon.

Its such a mission to get hold of these stems! our local lbs' (or mine at least in cpt) do not stock them (top end stems / handlebars). most online stores have them, but Im the shopper that wants to see it in the flesh, pay, walk out with it in my hand and fit it. Not saying they need to bring in a container of these in, but at least stock 1 or 2 for that needy customer (they stock truck loads of the everyday stuff) Just saying our local stores have to step their game up!

My Zipp carbon handlebar (plus matching wheels and seat post) will look stupid with a Raleigh stem!

As said above,

I suppose I have some or other disorder and want everything to match,Ritchey WCS Wet Black Stem, Bar and Post. The pros use it, not really doing anything for my riding....Looks cool, cost a lot.
