Sani2c 2014 Training - LATE start

Recommended Posts

This is a request to all experianced MTBers

I am well behind on my Sani2c training, what can i do to maximize my fitness/hill climbing ability before the 14th of May?

I work Monday-Friday 7am-6pm.

I have an indoor trainer and gym memebership

I have done the two previous Sani2c, but not much riding after that.

Please give me some idea how I can rescue my Sani2c

Hi there,

I would google Joe Friel and look on his blog for information regarding "crash training", there will probably be some info to help a little.

You've done 2 already so there's half the battle won.

Now just make sure you don't over train and go in with an injury!!!! Slow and steady.

what exactly is "behind". I am on number 3 and have done considerably less training this year compared to previous years. on average we have been putting in between 60 and 120km per week and between 1000 - 2500m climbing...I am relatively happy with that

Last year my partner and I went on ONE training ride (over 25km) before we went on our Sani trip and that was on the 1st May :D

It is not too late yet.

Did you finish? Terrified of day 2!

She did..... used flat pedals too... most of the way.

Day 2 is not really scary, couple of long climbs that if you have to you could walk (not that I plan to walk :) ) = probably about the same as riding about 3 times up Northcliff - not in the Rusty Gate league at all.

I have maybe put in 60km a week over the last 5, with 1000-1250m climbing, with hi intensity , I just feel like i am no were compaired with last year.

But i think 4 weeks is enough to get me to at least fitness level for a comfortable finish.

Just many early mornings and late nights......
