Great ride!

Yes, there were bottle necks and some congestion but the course was great fun.

The pace started high in c batch for the marathon. My time in the pain cave started early and there wasn't much light at the end of the tunnel until the finish. Feeling properly shattered now.

Hope everyone else had fun!

Good ride! Took you a while to pass me.

Don't want to be the guy taking the fun out of the day but if you have the sniffles, take it very easy or skip it all together. Heard of so many people this week who had heart attacks while training with colds. The late gentleman at Clarens also had a slight cold.

Not worth it. Seems like the strains of flu going arround these days are much more severe than usual. Good luck anyway as I take it you are already on your way.

Enjoy it out there today. Doing the 40 with the wife!

Cheers

Thanks for the advice and did precisely that. Wife started in A batch, caught up with her and paced the rest of the race. Enjoyed the event and big thumbs up to the organisation. Hope all had a fun time and not too many injuries or falls. Now for a hot shower and a beer or two.......

Well organized and well stocked water points all the way to the end. Enjoyed the route. Just realized the fitness needs some attention.

Had a blast. Great event as always. Now I need to loose a couple of fats before those climbs at Hakahana...

Great job Fritz, Francois, Wessel and the rest of the staff!

If you did not stop at Torque Zone's water point and ate some of the ostrich and dates you missed something .There was enough to feed the town of Cullinan .Thank,s Dirk and team !

jeez no appetite for meat during a ride but cold coke and banana bread went down a treat.

Very pleasant ride through some nice koppies and veld, some nice track. The route back has changed, was mainly district roads, interlude though a 'location' which was fun, but better than last year.

My marathon got off to a late start after my XTR pedal came off (looks like broken threaded bit at the end) - turned back, bought some entry level SPD pedals from our friends at Buycycle, fitted them. then went about reeling in the back markers. It was a long haul.

Whats the deal with Shimano pedal warranty? XTR is top of the line, I expected more.

Thanks all, great event.

Nice day out! Did a 4:10 for my first Nissan Marathon... Yes yes, I know... there wasn't much climbing. Just tried to finish a marathon without cramping - goal achieved :-)

Very happy with the result, route, batches; all good.

I must say I enjoyed the more chill ride/vibe amongst the marathon riders; the half marathons is always such a 'race' for position and the odd impatient dude (race snake) that cannot wait for a proper place to pass. Today everyone was well behaved and very patient with fellow riders that couldn't ride all the terrain. ????????

Started cycling again 3 weeks ago after a 2.5 year interlude. Did the half today and I seriously need to get fit again. 2:53 min. Great race but those hills nailed me :-)

Xtr pedals are famous for disintegrating...but they do normally swap out. Sell the new ones and get xt...

I also had a bad day out, punctured 9 Kms in. My spare tube had a hole, the first one I borrowed also had a hole. The second one I borrowed got me to 5 Kms from the end. Then I was reduced to pumping every 600m to get home. Long day out.

Superb event Fritz/ Wessel, could not have been better, or more fun! Loved the free By variable at the end too...

Duly agree on the free bavaria, especially the pinapple, lol. On a serious note, very nice, had a great time. Just saw some mango's sprint for position 2500,and crashed into other cyclists at the finish, busy being scanned, also after the "commentator" warned them to slow down.

First race in five years after a bad accident. Did the half in 2h10mins starting right at the back. Was awesome! Will definitely be back next year. But might hang around for more beers. Seems festive in that dorpie.
