 personally means in person btw

Congrats.  You must be a teacher or coach or something.

Generally people just warm up to you when you point out a stupid mistake they made.

I really like that in a person.

And totally off the topic.....

;)

Not be bothered by his useless friend trying to convince him not to go to some little place he was kicked out of. Hopefully a guy like that has more pressing issues at hand

Again....you are assuming I have friends.....or are involved in this in ANY way.  Nogal moer funny.

Playing devils advocate is the best job EVER!!!!

In the end it is a business.  Run by a business model.  People involved.  Warra warra warra

Mostly business likes money.  In fact....I don't know a business that turns away money.

Hence my devils advocate approach as it seems you are quite passionate about hating lycra clad people and turning away money.

Just one last poke......You think cyclist smells like knobs.....

Thankfully I don't have friends and in general don't cycle with bunches but when I do I have never seen a smelly or dirty knobby cyclist.  In fact I see more normal clad people in the mall that I won't want to share a table with in a restaurant than dirty cyclists.........

Just saying you know.......

OK....OK....I'll stop now so that you can go back to hating lycra and roadies again full time and not spend time typing stuff on the webs that no one reads.

He is being positive

Hahahhaha.  Doing triathlons I suppose you have to have an insane good attitude and be positive all the time.

I like him.  He seems cheerful and accommodating.

Back to topic.....when Admin returns after his easy bike ride I am going to get lambasted again for stirring.  Heheheheh..

When in cycling kit, LIFE next door is the better option. Better coffee, prices, chow, vibe, prices, outdoors, prices, etc.

The last time I went to Remo's, was also shocked at the price of 500ml water. Kids had 4. Been back with mates, and to make a point, kids ordered Rand Water's finest. R90/liter..... Hell NO!

I can accept the stance. Fortunately, there are tons of options around them. I for one, refuse to tell someone how to run their business, without a fee agreement in place.... :whistling:

Cyclist or not, they shouldn't be turning down anyone. Unfortunately for them one of the guys they turned down was a hubber! After our club rides every saturday morning we have coffee at the wimpy and there doesnt seem to be any problem at all!

Booo effing hooo

Please show me any normal restaurant where the cyclists outnumber the civilians.

You're not thinking logically, he's not going to get rich off 4 guys every morning having coffee and asking for the gluten free menu.

You should see the Mugg & Bean (stellies) on a Sat AM...I had to fight for my little seat in the corner...

{must admit - the bunch of roadies were arrogant as only they can be!! ...poor waiters!...I saw okes walking into the back to help themselves because they could NOT wait..}

Yes Slowbee but definitely not by "thousands"

At the end of the day even all the friends he tell will eventually be sitting in that very restaurant say " Hey , Isn't his the place Spinnekop was turned away from?"

and have a good chuckle.

And I am sure if we start filtering through Provinces, multiple views, suburbs and the rest we might end up with around 10 hubbers that live close by that would want to go there after a ride.

The rest go to Food Lovers at Kyalami on Main, even though they slip on their plastic floor and almost break an elbow .

Yup. And that's the point that Patch and Voodoo et al seem to miss.

This is less about how the OP felt after being turned away from a snotty wannabe restaurant and more about the bad PR being generated from the turn away.

I ate at the Umhlanga branch last night (before reading this thread today) and was very impressed with the decor (also saw the racing pics etc in the bogs) and the nice little touches like cloth serviettes and face towels for drying your hands after using the loo.

Service was ok. The food? Pretty crap really. After the meal (R350 for two pizzas and two Windhoeks) I gave myself a mental note not to return.

So crap chow and an apparent intransigent attitude to my hub buds = no more bucks from me to them.

Rant on:

No no, lets not lump me into the group of people who dont see the bad press. I said that one person with Twitter is very dangerous, more dangerous than a dude who thinks he is the business because he has a Pino  ... or those types who say stuff like "do you know who I am???"

What I AM saying is, is this really worth the bad press and the stink that it is being kicked up in the first place. I am also saying that we as "hubbers" take ourselves and "our" forum a little too seriously. Want to vent, Tweet them, go post on their FB wall etc.... At least then they have the opportunity to respond. But on the forum here, we sound like the Peoples Front of Judea. That's a Monty Python thing BTW, before I get called names.

"A bunch of cyclists moaning about them not being allowed into an upper class establishment in their smelly lycra", you understand how much of a crap the rest of the non-cylcing world gives about a problem like that? With current perceptions of how selfish and road hoggy cyclists are, that statement is probably a laughing matter in non-cyclists conversations.

A cyclist got turned away from a place that has a certain dress code. Thats it. If the waiter was rude about, well is that a reason to call a boycott on the whole of Remo's or should the waiters attitude be addressed with the management rather?

This is a real "upper middle class problem".

Lycra clad cyclists are not welcome at Remo's. Have your post ride coffee at the restaurant next door. Problem solved.

Rant off:

Edit: SAgecko, only underlined parts was in reply to you. Rest was just a rant :)
