EDIT: BIKE HAS BEEN FOUND!

Thanks to all for the support.

//

Hi Hubbers,

My bike was stolen from Afrikaburn a few days back and I would appreciate if you could keep an eye open for it.

The frame should be the only one in the country as I imported it from Germany.

All components are also imported personally by me so should be fairly unique.

If you track it down please contact me via email: me@niclouw.com

or call me on 0845509466.

Thanks!

Frame: Koga-MIYATA Gent’s Racer. Beige with stripes on the down tube.

Saddle: Mid-‘80s Brooks brown leather.

Handle Bar: Velo Orange Porteur, flipped and chopped with cork ends and grey bar tape.

Basket: Wald chromed wire basket.

Rims: unmarked Aluminium Aero.

Front Hub: Fuji.

Rear Hub: Sram Automatix 2 speed hub with coaster brake.

Tyres: Kenda fat 35c

Theft at Africa Burn? What is the world coming to? Are you sure someone didn't trade you the bike for a little something to smoke and you just forgot about it? It could happen. ;)

Two of ours went walk about as well but we found them shortly after with no issues. Although there are another two unaccounted for.

There were loads of bikes being left at lost and found, your best bet would be to contact AB directly with the same description.

Thanks All.

The bike was definitely taken without permission. I left a description and contact details at the Lost & Found at the event.

Can anyone recommend some bike shops in Gauteng that specialise in vintage steel that I can contact with pics and description?

The story:

I took the bike down to one of the Afrikaburn dancefloors around 2am on Wednesday was chatting to friends and didn't have a lock with me at the time. Turned my back for a few min and she was gone. Got up early for a scout and had no luck tracking her down. Assumed it was a professional hit :)

One week and many Facebook and forum posts later I get an SMS from someone who says that they found the bike outside their camp and brought it back to Cape Town.

Collected her this morning, a little worse for wear, bent basket, shredded bar tape and a few new scratches but nothing irreparable.

Just glad to have her back!
