Is motorcycling allowed?

I just bought a set of basically brand new pegs for the HD on Facebook .... after I did the purchase I realised that this can quickly become a slippery slope the same way one drops cash on a bicycle .... going to have to be careful, and I trust you lot of sensible people will help keep me in check if I start asking questions about stuff.

EDIT: but the new pegs are shinny, and I like shinny

Pre-chromed I assume.......

Exactly .... this is not a metric bike wanting to be a HD, and going about chroming things to look like a HD.

And all the "cool kids" on HD's have been blacking out their bikes anyway.

Had to step out this morning to the mall to get something, when I got back to the bike there was a dude parked next to the bike and walking around looking at her.
We got chatting and he sold his HD 48 earlier in the morning and has been looking for a Fat Bob for a while now, let him sit on the bike as we are the same height, and the bike fit him just right. We got chatting. Dude has, and had a good couple of bikes.

All in a good encounter.

So the shinny things = better feel and connection with the bike vs the std off the shelf rubber logs that was on the bike.

With the broader platform, and ability to angle the pegs to your preference the feel is great.

The shifter peg was the real surprise, far more feel again, and a positive feeling when shifting through the gears, and I would go so far as to say it is rather easy to find neutral on the HD now.

All in a rather good little upgrade.

Just do it, but sit down when you start ordering suspension!

The Bitubo Twin shocks on my ZRX, matched with their progressive fork springs……….Harley in their catalogue too!7D0AC291-0DB3-4255-971A-FD293E1D1F0E.jpeg.b8586b2043dbacb2e684eabf4883ec05.jpeg

Just took a look, and at 16-17K I can get the fork and shocks replaced with Bitubo's on the Fat Bob ... that is the same price as a decent fork (only, ex. shock) on sale from Evo ...... again, motorbikes are cheaper than mountain bikes

Sorry man, just search for Bitubo Suspension……..I am not smart enough to provide links! I did order through Denver Biggs at Bling King in Joburg.  082 450 8878. He also did the suspension on my KLR 650 and I will use him for my 1983 CB750 F when the time comes.

Sorry, just seen that you already took a look. Reasonable prices when compared to bicycle components!

Agree with your comment @Hairy, motorcycling is indeed cheaper than cycling!

I feel that good suspension goes a long way and overall improves the comfort and handling of your machine, so it is money well spent.

I cannot be happier that the stock air shock is replaced with a proper aftermarket nitrogen shock on my G650X.

Not 100% sure but progressive springs is something also to consider maybe? Will be cheaper than replacing the whole shock or fork.

@Spokey may chip in here with his wisdom.

I will be sticking to stock suspension, just keeping it fresh with servicing as I am very curious about other bikes in the HD range, primarily the Road Kings and Heritage models.

Finding that when I need to use the bike, and it is raining I ride anyway .... even if the roads are just wet, the chop front fender on the Fat Bob offer pretty much zero protection to my lower legs. I could also certainly benefit from lockable storage on the bike (For both work and pleasure), though I do not want a fully faired bike, so the RK and Heritage look to be bikes I need to get out and test ride.

BUT, I am "just looking" for now.
