Hairy Posted April 18, 2022 Share Had an hour free this morning, so decided to pick a direction and see where I end up .... ended up taking a spin along Tafelberg road past the cable car station to where they have cordoned off the road. Flip it was busy here, I imagine being Easter holiday and the 2 Oceans there were tons of people who looked like tourists. What an amazing day to be on a bike. patches, Spokey, WaynejG and 5 others
sawystertrance Posted April 19, 2022 Share Hairy, I know you don't live in the area but if you can, try to get up there early one morning. The lighting and silence are superb. Apart, that is, from the sounds of the city below waking up. Take coffee.. Hairy

I know it very well, we used to cycle up on the mountain before work every Wednesday morning .... the mountain is really a special place early morning. The Ouzo Posted April 19, 2022 Share My brother in law recently bought this. It’s surprising comfortable in the side car. No that’s not me climbing on the side car. Andrew_Smith and BenReaper

Hairy Posted April 19, 2022 Share And if it is a Ural, what would spares, etc look like in the medium to long term given the Russian sanctions?

I'm pretty sure its a restore as the lights are modern and everything is pristine. Hairy

You can make a trip of this. You can ride there on day one via N2 and camp at Bennie's place, day two explore Hoekwil/Wilderness/Knysna area and visit Spokey, day three return via Outeniqua Pass to Oudshoorn and back via Route 62. Can stop off at either Ronnie's Sex Shop or Diesel & Cream in Barrydale for lunch on the return. Spokey Posted April 19, 2022 Share Did a trip to CT to Flying Brick on the off chance they would have reusable air filters for my Katoom 690……they did, 2, secured, job done. Nothing like a 1200 km tip to achieve this…… from Hoekwil (Wilderness) Edited April 19, 2022 by Spokey Duplicate pic RoddieJ, Wannabe, Ed-Zulu and 5 others
Spokey Posted April 19, 2022 Share Took some of the old classic road bikes for a jaunt to burn the cobwebs out of the exhausts. A quick blast over Outeniqua Pass into the Waboomskraal Valley and back. The rough tar in the Wabooms broke the right rear indicator on the Duke…..you may notice……very firm suspension. I am learning that machine……she has a race ECU and I need to swap it for a road one…….buggar she is a tart to ride at low revs…..get the RPMs up and she is a dream……..the the license also becomes a dream!! Either of the Katooms..690 or 1190…..terrain dependant! Edited April 19, 2022 by Spokey Spelling…..again BenReaper

The next time you are planning to drive down to CT to buy a pair of plastic 50c wheel valve caps, drop a note here and I am sure you would find a couple of offers of coffee along your route BenReaper, Spokey and sawystertrance 2
