I stopped at the Moto Guzzi dealership over load shedding and had a very good look at the V85 and may well take a demo bike out to my site meeting in Stellies on Friday (dealership is in Table View) to get a good ride and feel for the bike ........ note, they offered this option to me for my next meeting out that way.

A really nice and helpful lot of people at the dealership.

I'm doing something completely different in May - I usually join my Dad on this rally http://www.ncmc.org.za/natal.html on one of the classic bikes - but his back is not that great anymore and age is catching up - not so easy starting a 500 British single and riding it with crap suspension and terrible brakes.

So I've convinced him to do the rally on DT's - I'm going to ride my 175 and he's going to ride the 125LC.  Nice and light, easy to start and the long travel suspension will be easy on his back.

Going to be a hoot I think!

So I decided if we are doing this, we need to do it properly - the little 125 was running well but it was a little rattly and when I bought it the nut on the end of the crankshaft had come loose and damaged the threads so it was on with Loctite.  I had collected all the spares so it was just a case of engine out and rebuild.  Nice and quick.  I also decided to put on the Bosson tailpipe I had bought years ago.

Yesterday morning was just perfect in CT, so managed to get out for a quick 2hr ride.

The idea was to head out along the coast, stop in H/Bay for coffee and back again.....problem was that when I got to Milnerton, I could not resist the urge to hook off and go ride the back roads of Durbanville.

Stopped at Philadelphia for the first time for an average coffee at https://demallemeul.co.za/ in a rather lovely location and building, before heading back home again.

And this is why I am posting here, the "Old Mamre Road" must be one of Cape Town very worst roads, this thing is terrible ..... especially is you really need to make a wee and your HD does not have much travel, being pounded on a road like that is not a pleasant experience.

Next time I want to try out the https://www.peppertreephiladelphia.co.za/ instead in the hope of them having a decent coffee.

As much fun as it is going along the coast, there is so much more I have not seen in the Boland Area and I am certainly going to point my bike that way on my next ride out.

I think you answered your own question - "and your HD does not have much travel,"  If you had a proper motorbike that road would be a piece of cake. So weh! 🙂

I am going to call BS on that pricing.

The base model is 14 grand here. The T7 is around 9 here and over 200k zar. The aprillia 660 is just over 10k here and 270k zar.

no way will the the desert X be 260k. That would be below landed cost.
