May I ask a stupid question here?

Why is the damage on the paint Momsen's fault in the first place?

Should this not be the Bikeshop where the bike was left's responsibility to sort?

Sounds to me like the mechanic at the bike shop screwed this one up.

The Vipa frame left the shop with no paint damaged. I was neatly boxed and send to TWT for the cable guide to be fixed.

Received the Vipa frame back in way to small box and according to me, that damaged the frame!

Frame pant job was repaired by TWT at a cost... received the Vipa frame back in an actual Vipa box...why was the first shipment not done like this?

Mike thanks for your positive input.

I was answering a question that was asked to me.

If it does not involve you or interest you, you are more than welcome to move on.

I have moved on.

As an dealer I'm riding my 3rd Vipa ( xt / team / new xt )

None of the bikes I've sold had any issues

Be careful not to single out one brand as all of agencies have their own ferry tale and horror stories

Bad experience with warranty claim. First had all sorts of stipulations I had to adhere to. Met all of them. Then started the emails and phonecalls saga. Then all sorts of red tape, in the end took my money and spent it on someone who are willing to honour there service agreements. They wont see my money again.

Thanks for the heads up. Always had my fears.

Also did not have a great experience with Momsen warranty claim and also decided to spend my money on a different brand

I dont think its about single out a brand , but rather to share experience - good or bad , both are equally important - people can then decide based on the info presented to them

Agreed, could have been sent properly the first time.

All I am saying is that this might have happened at the bike shop or at the couriers even.

I do not agree that Momsen can be held responsible for it as we all know how couriers handle stuff and even some bike shops when we not looking!

I understand your frustration and I am with you on that one!

Did your bike shop book the bike in properly (With paperwork) to proof it was not them?

If not then they are the ones liable.

If they did the next in the chain should prove the same etc.

just my 2c.

My condolences for your bike that has been hurt in the process.

Not sure I can reply without being labeled a whinger.

I trust my lbs, been dealing with them the last 13 years. Not a week past with me not being in the shop, just for a chat. I love bikes...I am the bike "broker" in town, love spending other peoples money on bikes.

From my side, all was done properly, from book in, invoices, documented emails, photos.

Repair is done...the whole saga, just spoilled it for me.

So further to my post and my mates broken bike I got 2 x PM's from Momsen and it looks like it is out of warranty (as he is second owner) so they agreed to replace it at half the price. Certainly not lacking in responsiveness and willingness to support their brand.

As the 2nd owner thats more than they are obligated to do I'm sure. Kudos to them. We need service orientated brands,as they are few and far between.

It's things like this that make you want to buy a brand when looking for a new steed.

Thumbs up to momsen ???????? nice one.

Hmm,

So a friends VIPA has cracked at the end of the RHS rear chain stay see photos below. Anyone else had issues with the VIPA frame and if so where did it break. It looks like a manufacturing issue.

Anyone seen similar?

I bought a Momsen Vipa AC 2015 model XL Size I weigh 107kg. First had a frame failure during Berg and Bush  event. vertical part of aluminium frame broke cracked and broke around the bottom rear pivot point. I have scene the exact failure on another XL vipa, They replaced entire frame with 2016 new colour frame. i was very pleased with the service i received.

I then had exactly the same failure as the picture above. They sent new bottom rear swing arm but it was incorrect paint work. i fitted it and covered with tape.

I have just discovered the same failure after Sani2C. My LBS were honest enough to tell me that they had quite a few claims for exactly the same failure.

I hope it will get sorted as previously but i'm getting concerned as these bikes only come with 3 year warranty on carbon frame components

Ok just a little update since my post last night. Big Brother is watching us :) Momsen's claims manager sent me a PM this morning asking for contact details to assist. I'm impressed Momsen. Local seems to be lekker! It was a major factor when i bought the Vipa.
