What were your biggest prep rides for the race?

This coming Sunday. Hoping for 100kms with 2000m of climbing.

Does anyone (preferably female i.e. your wife, sister or girlfriend) need a ride from the start to the finish. My wife & baby is joining the trip this year & it will be my wife's longest drive ever to add to the challenge she will have baby with, so i would feel at ease if there was possibly company with them.

Min dae! Was aiming for 7 hours, but after the festive season of too much eating, drinking and not enough riding I will be happy just to get to the line in 8 hours if I'm lucky

Is it possible to link a Karoo to coast time to a time more or less for the attakwas. Or perhaps maybe a 1 tonner time?

 

Perhaps something like a 3h50 Karoo2Coast rider might to a ballpark 7h atta.

 

I just want to gauge a time more or less

Ya, enough water points around. I would keep a backup though in case its a hot day.

My scalpel only fits a 500, so put 1 behind my seat post, will rather be safe than sorry, for this race rather be over prep'd anything can happen

One big bottle is ok but then ride with a small water bottle in your pocket.

 

It can get to 40 in the kloof and then it's nice to spray yourself down,but there is enough water points.

K2C was a road race, Attawkas is a proper mtb race, therefore cannot be compared however with a 3:50 finish you should roll in round about the +-7:30 mark.
