Watched this over the weekend and left a bit underwhelmed. I think they could've spent a bit more time with him pre-crash, i.e. get to know the "old" Doctor Strange. Also, his traning montage seemed to be a bit rushed.

It would've also been nice to have a quiet character moment between him and the Ancient Once, similar to the way Ra's al Ghul and Bruce Wayne had a fire side chat in Batman Begins. It's an easy way to create depth for their relationship.

Still rate it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

I am looking forward to it, but will probably wait and watch it at home.

Jack reacher2 was a bit meh.

maybe it was tom cruise... maybe they tried too many facets to the story. The ms major was pretty bad ass tho...could watch more of that....

watched Daniel Radcliffe on Graham Norton talking about his new movie Swiss Army Man...and it sounded so freaking awesome I had to watch it.....man....what a great movie! If you like things a little bit offsides and a little bit dark with a great story..brilliant soundtrack and superb acting..then watch it. Paul Dano has his movie moments..and this was up there with "there will be blood"

This was one of those movies where at the end you ask yourself...  What was in that water.  Did the downstairs unit smoke crack again...  Or did the SAPS burn a huge amount of dope nearby.  Was still an awesome movie.  Nothing like I have seen before!

ha ha absolutely. It moved from laughter to joy to sadness. As I said earlier..you have to have a slightly dark view on things..and certainly cant take it at face value.  Paul Dano is insanely underrated. I know there are people who dont like him..but every movie I have seen of his his acting is out of this world

Interesting detail

The casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One was particularly controversial and drew accusations of whitewashing, as the character is portrayed as a Tibetan man in the source material. However, one proposed reason for the change is that a movie featuring a Tibetan character will not be acceptable in China, which has become a very important foreign market. So the deviation from the source material was probably to not hurt the movie's box office chances.

I saw Suicide Squad over the weekend.

As I've mentioned in a couple threads around here, I'm not really a comic/superhero person.

I was pretty confused by the whole movie - mostly by the fact that they had those villains in it at all. I mean they got sent in with those special forces soldiers, who seemed pretty competent without them.

Awesome soundtrack though, well, except that one random Eminem (??) song in the middle of the movie.

Just watched Arrival at the movies. By a long, long way the best, most adult sci-fi movie I have seen in years. Don't go if you are looking for an Independence Day blockbuster but if you enjoyed Contact/Interstellar, etc, it is better than either, and they were great to me. (And very, very relevant to the events of the last while on our little planet). Haven't said this much about a movie before, but the use of sound is just phenomenal.
