kosmonooit Posted September 8, 2017 Share Did that Escort have fur on the dashboard? I've done a fair bit of touring around Zim, really loved it, beautiful country. People generally were amazing. Haven't been back for a while though. What about Peter Tosh in Swaziland about '83 - although what I can remember of that concert is a bit blinkered. CAAD4 Posted September 8, 2017 Share do you know that the original brewery in CT was called Ohlson's before being bought out by Charles Glass (yes he was real) and changed to SAB.Somehow I don't think he was.

It may have been Mrs Glass, Lisa who was responsible for Charles Glass beer! The history of Forrester arms here in CT as posted by rider#35 is also a fascinating read
Andymann Posted September 10, 2017 Share Yup,Was still in the army, so even though it was illegal to leave the country made the trek to ZIm in my bright Orange Ford Escort! Awesome couple of days. Springsteen, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel etc etc! Still have a VHS tape of the concert. Biko by Gabriel has been played to death.Went to Swaziland shortly after that to see Clapton. What we had to do to see artists in those days!Push your memory back further, Queen The Works tour at Sun City! That's what started me on Live Concertswas it a one-six double-oh Sport! I loved those. kosmonooit Posted September 19, 2017 Share Found this on YouTube Seen a lot of Michaei Woods other travel / history productions, all very good, and this is very reflective of the times. He doesn't remind us, but in those days trains, stations and all facilities in RSA were totally racially segregated (which was rigorously by the Spoorweg Police) - I commuted for a year by train from the East Rand to Wits, half the train was 'non-white" and there was no encounter whatsoever. Silly thing was the branch train line to Daveyton stopped close to where I lived, but I had to get to the other side of town to catch the train. Maybe some of you enjoyed those times, I always thought it was seriously messed up Edited September 19, 2017 by kosmonooit
