I'm looking for a road cycling route around Gauteng around 120 Km instead of circling the cradle and of course I'm looking for something cycle friendly

Please send

.tcx .gpx and .fit files.

if you have

ye, 2 laps round SBR would do that.

+1 on SBR - best 60km ride in Jhb.

No taxis, no cars, no robots, no flats - just miles and miles of a rolling tar ribbon. Fantastic!

Nice hill area, won't mind them cutting a MTB route or 2 round there.

In the visitor parking area...

Nice tree/shade and just out of the parking area is the "warm up hill, aka killer of 4km of straight climb".

Where is a good place to park and start riding SBR from?

Take the Sattelite route to Harties and back, and do an extra stretch through the cradle... Works well for me

hehehe

and I'm prob a bit cheeky there ;)

Pay at gates, go through gate, keep going straight till you get a TJunction, turn left into parking area, Park.

Go back how you came in, at the T junction (where you turned left) just past it, to the right you will see a road to the left, going UP :D...

it doesn't exist

The cradle and suikerbosrand are the only two safe road routes in JHB. If you ride MTB there are some more options, but not quite if you want to do 4+ hour rides without riding in circles.

Many clubs have routes that are longer, but IMO it's not safe with all of these routes having some busy sections and dodgy crossings here and there.

Try a few loops of Suikerbosrand?

never been there so have no clue.

Two laps of SBR for someone who has never been there is going to be a baptism of fire.

Be prepared for some pain. Serious pain.

At least after 1 lap one could cop out?
