Here are some pics from the weekend from the GoPro. Trying to load the whole thing to the youtube.

This is the close call on the M3, with the guy dodging the sign.

This youngster, I keep forgetting his name is a serious talent for the future, raced with him for 2 seasons now and is impressive!

I have been promised this footage for weeks now... Still waiting.  :whistling:

All of the above happens when it is 109km so why would you not do it again? At 109km its just more the double the amount of problems / tears? I rode it twice last year 1st group $ and also last group 10h00 so I saw all of what you saw - just for 6 hours instead of 3 hours! Or are you saying in the last group you would also not do a 109km event?

he's saying that for the effort of getting down here, 47km is too short if it's all it is and there aren't any circumstancesd like this year.

Would I do the CTCT each year if it waS ONLY 47KM? No. Why>? I love the original route. That's part of it.

I see 24411

You looking a males! off the top of my head - yup the higher finish rate is one of my main reasons for my change of thought of the route for years too come!

It was a tough day as I gave it horns and stayed in the red for the entire race, longest 1:19 minutes of life! There was a pretty cool vibe and I enjoyed the finish area.

My wife and father-in-law were both help up at the stop and go. So I just want to know was it advertised that there would be one? I would have been really annoyed if I had been made to stop!

I can see why they did it but inexcusable if they did not mention it would be there.

Seems like certain people have major chips on shoulders!!!

Now back to the point of try to increase the size of the sport.

Would it be somehow possible to have a long “Argus” route and a shorter (yesterdays)  route for the Cape Town Cycle tour? The original route for the 15 000 odd who really want to do it - and then an out and back on the freeway for people who just want to be part of the day hopefully another 100 000 plus!

The pro’s race in the morning for a prize money and then expected to race at the end of the day for the same amount of prize money on the short route to put a great time on the short route for the less serious riders to compare themselves against!

why inexcusable?

It was communicated before the event that it would be a solidarity ride. Only the leading groups would be guaranteed full road closure

I prefer the 109km to this particular 46km. I will do many 46km mountain bike rides with views and route more enjoyable. Same reason I prefer Test cricket to the multitude of 1 day games. Juicier pitches, more variable conditions and the need to hold out for a draw if you are having a really bad day. (For pitches, conditions, and guts insert 'scenery, wind and well, guts).

are there enough hospital beds for 1% of the entrants in your scenario?

We also had to stop.

Probably waited a minute or so

I was very gutted, I was going for a 1h55 and because of the wait I came in at 1h56

besides for those who want less of a challenge there is the tricycle tour on Saturday

How is this for an idea?

I think you are seriously overestimating the appeal of riding up and down a freeway, besides it is the type of race you can host anywhere if that was appealing, no need to fly down to Cape Town from all over the world to do it.

a 100 000? 35 000 on the shortened route was a stretch. I had to walk over the finish line yesterday due to congestion. Now combine that with long route finishers finishing from the other side of the route.

The thing is that CTCTT, Rotary and PPA made this look easy. It was far from easy...
