Next time you need a local tracking number pop me a p.m. and I will send you an email address for a lady at EMS that I use for getting local tracking numbers and tracking updates.

Just got notification that my final shipment (4th one) has just arrived at my PO - sorry boss, going to be late tomorrow as my local PO only opens at 08:00.

All in all about 13-15 days from order date to delivery date for all three orders that came via EMS.

Now if only the SAPO website allowed one to get the local tracking number (IIxxxxxxxxxZA) without having to hold on for hours at the call centre, they would probably be a little more efficient. Unless there is a way an I don't know about it.

One shipment came in with DHL (ordered Thursday night, in my hands on Tuesday morning).

you can just type in your international tracking number and the website will give you the local number as well

Ordered stuff in Jan. 1 arrived last week at the post office. But the post office is only open on first and last Saturday of the month now. Can't get there unless it's a Saturday. Stupid union must have negotiated that

Website?

I have been using the International tracking website (http://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/) from the link on the SAPO website. Nowhere there does it give the local tracking number.

try these :

http://www.parceltrack.co.za/

http://trackmyparcel.co.za/

As I said, you can put in your international tracking number and search, you will get the local tracking number as well as where it is in the system.  After that, having got the local tracking number I use that in further searches.

Saves having to sit on the phone with the SAPO :)

thanks - I've used the parceltrack website before, after I got the local tracking number. Now, no more phone calls required.

Beginning to think SAPO is winning the race hands down for worst government parastatel in country ,and competition is stiff in this category!

Parcel 4 days from California to JHB, 3 weeks later it has moved from JHB..r

There solution is appears is to stop answering all manner of telephone calls, in JHB and CT!!

I think to stop supporting them!! Use post net or someone. . Ordered stuff 3 April. . It left 2 days later... SA still haven't checked it in!! This was via air mail!!!????????

I ordered a windsurfing fin from the States last year November. It arrived this week (5 months).

The dude at the Post Office mentioned that few Christmas presents have made it through so far.

Can anybody tell me how long it typically takes for an International delivery by the Post Office from the date when you have a local tracking number?

It could be anything from 1 to 3 weeks for the local delivery once it has been assigned a local tracking number.

I have used the SAPO for the last time...

My last parcel from USA, ordered the goods 27/08/2014.. arrived here early March this year

So I thought, things are looking up.. I actually received my goods, so I made the error of ordering some more stuff, by post. This was on 29/02/2015.

The strike is over so I thought all would be good. Well it isn't.

Firstly the local PO tells me they're still catching up after the strike!!!

For f***s sake, surely some overtime is required to catch up for what is basically a speed/time based service???? No, no worries for this lot, They just saunter on at snail's pace,

Then when I question this latest parcel, I'm told, when it comes to overseas parcels, I must learn to be patient!!!!!!

Seriously.... well I guess it's only 2 months now, it could have rowed itself here in that time, but I'll just have to be patient, more is nog 'n dag... :cursing:

I thought I beat the system buying MTB components from CRC - if you buy enough you even get FREE SHIPPING! Wow.

I was patient for 3 months (Jan to March).

One lost-parcel-claim and some £13.50 later... got my goods from DHL within a week. Costed me more than I initially planned, but a big fark-you to SAPO.

Yeah.. know the feeling.. bought some cycle gear 5weeks 6-8days delivery by air.. still don't have it... that plane must be F#$^&$#**!! Slow!! This uselessness of all government institutions is just pissing me off!! Think we must also do the same to them.
