Did they arrest the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident who apparently drove away?

We need to name and shame, would also like to see a mug shot of the driver and the car.

Early morning sunday...less than 12 hours after the boks clean up the aussies there's a chance the oke p[artied hard and was still over the limit/sukkeling met 'n babbelas. by running away he can get away with that charge without being tested.

how do we create the scenario where people don't flee the scene...it's too easy?

(admittedly, the burry incident is quite similar in the collision scenario - AFAIK there the taxi driver owned up immediately)

Update:

She is in a stable condition this morning and her family is with her. Please note that we are not allowed to post any information that can/will affect the investigation.

City Cycling Club thanks all for their concern and please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

i imagined that was the case as well. whois the driver, would be interesting to check his/her fb page. With any luck, there might be a confirmation of a boozefest.

On my ride yesterday I saw a girl cycling past Cape Point with (presumably) her parents following in a Land Rover with hazards on. At the time I thought that it was a bit paranoid as I cycle that route 2-3 times weekly and experience motorists quite cautious on it. After reading about this - yet another - incident now and thinking of cyclists' safety I don't think so anymore.

Is this where we are going? Having to have lead- and following cars just to ensure we are not getting killed? Frustrating other road users but having no choice? Being paranoid every time you ride your bike without the protection of cars? Training on indoor trainers because we have no escorted ride to fall in with?

It sucks.
