3K at 6:52. Is there more entries than last year? I'm starting 16 minutes later this year. Thought I improved

There are much more groups with fewer riders. Also start times do seem to be a bit later. Remember the groups start closer together so if you feeling strong you should be able to jump up 2 groups on hells alone. Assuming you can climb 2min faster than those ahead of you.

Same group as me. What time are you aiming for?

Did a 4:33 last year (97 km) and 4.32 the year before that (92 km). Trying for 4:00 - 4:15.

Doing it on full MTB kit as usual, so wont be able to go much faster.

Is % a bad seeding? I was quite chuffed... what don't I know?

Last night I thought about it and decided it might be better there. If you get dropped up hels in the $ group it might be a long day. Last year I was dropped at Wellington and it was hard getting home on my own.

Hehe, funny reading about everyone's aimed 03:00 rides.

I'm aiming for a sub 05:00 with the wife (starting 07:17). We just started cycling two months ago and I think I would actually be able to do the race faster on my MTB full nobblies than my road bike, as the road bike is a REALLY old 9 speed tiagra with no compact crank, so I'll be pushing up Helshoogte or will have to stop, Hehe.

Leave some water at the points for me!

No worries you're not alone doing a 'longer' ride. (Although I have done a 2:35 Burger before) Riding with the other half and it's her first long race. She'll be chuffed with a 4:30 but we're gonna ride it without the pressure of pushing for a time and see what she ends up with! All as prep for her first Argus errm, Cape Town Cycle Tour next year. Have a lekka ride and maybe see you at the water points hunting for fluids...

Remember last year there was a short route. This year all doing just long route

My first Burger/Stellenbosch cycle tour. The only road race I have done is the Argus. Did that in 3h30 on my Mtb with knobblies.

Is this race easier or tougher than the Argus? Also what sort of time can I expect to ride +- .. I am starting in 2G at 6h15. (on a road bike & I am definitely fitter than beginning of the year)

Thanks

I was top 15 last year and also in % this year. Penalised for not having a PPA membership ;)

PPA has nothing to do with it. Depends on your results in last 3 months. We have a guy who was in B last year Burger, did well last two events and is starting in $ and not PPA. All seedings which are older than 6 months are penalised as a lot can happen in 12 months. System rewards consistent racing.
