With our friends at SAPO and Speed Services on strike,  what options are available to send a small parcel from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg.

Couriers are quoting over R200 making any purchase between centres impossible!

Thanks

I sent an item through SAPO from CPT to Durban about 2 weeks ago without problems but I have been waiting a month for a parcel from JHB

NOT Fastway, go to HelloPeter, check how many complains I have made already never mind the rest of SA.

I send parcels to PMB almost on a daily bases, we use Worldnet Express - For overnight express you pay about R150, they have Budget prices also ect. Take note it's a Regional Town so you have a 50/50 chance of it getting delivered next day alternatively it'll take 2 days with ONX.

What they don't realise is that when the negotiations are over, the same twits that created the mess have to go back and clean it up :))

What will happen to all of the post? Will they deliver it when they start working again or should we write it off? So freakin miffed. Wish the person had sent it another way.

I gave up waiting for my new rims to arrive and cannibalized my old rims for my new wheels. They're still sitting at the depo waiting for dispatch. I'm just praying they are still there when the strike is over. They've been in the country since the 17th of September. So annoyed.

If you need something sent somewhere in a hurry you can take it to your local airport and find the desk that says SAA Cargo. Here you will be able to send just about anything to any one of the other SAA Cargo desks at any airport that they fly to for a MUCH smaller amount than a courier. Best of all, they put it on the very next plane that leaves and it can be collected from the airport that it is going to roughly an hour after the plane lands.

I once sent a 5 kg parcel from PMB to JHB at around 06h30 in the morning for about R120 and it was collected in Joburg by my customer at the airport at 10h00.

It turns out this is what the courier companies do, they just put all the smaller stuff into a larger bag or box that is going to each different city, put it on the correct flight to that city, and then send a vehicle to collect the bag from the airport and then unpack and deliver each individual parcel - obviously taking a day or 2 to get it done.
