Rode this again on Saturday and did a quick POV edit - a beautiful spot in spring time. Probably the best TMBC trail if you like fast and flowy with some fun obstacles thrown in...

Okaaaayyyy. Haven't ridden there before. i always thought the trail was a bit short. i have just been hanging out around Contermanskloof and Meerendal. I am a sort of middle of the pack rider when it comes to technical ability. Should I give it a go? I have been riding for a year now and am pretty confident on ST at above mentioned trails.

You'll be fine - just take it easy the first time round. My technical skills suck and I can manage it without hurting myself (just not as fast as the usual mountain goats that roam there..)

One of my favorite trails in the area..  Take it easy the first time and walk the tech sections to get a feel for them, then dive in next time around. Speed is your friend.

I like linking it to Meerendal and Conties, do a round trip.. About 40km..

Best trail in the area, climbs more fun, Cobra is awesome, and it seems they have done some work on it... Either that or I just don't have a clue how Headshot goes down there so fast. That video really doesn't give you an appreciation of some of the rocky bits hehe

+1

But the shale sections seems to have cleared up a bit..

Installed a dropper this week, think a visit to Hoogekraal later to for a quick test is in order.

You can be a COMPLETE noob and ride that trail.

There are mayeb two corners you might need to walk, the rest is so well groomed or has chicken runs that you'll not have a problem...

Definitely go :D

the ONLY thing it lacks is the option for a few larger table-top jumps and some drops to give one the option of riding some more proper trail like ST :D

So I rode Hoogekraal on Saturday morning, and my impression is that it is Disneyland for MTB!!! I love the climbs and the flow of the trail, and to think that 95% of the route is ST just blows my mind, especially the way it is groomed. Fast and flowy. I even did the feared Cobra!!! What a blast. It is my favorite trail at present!!! I litteraly cannot stop thinking about that trail, I feel like a teenager again anticipating a date with a hot girl...I'm gushing aren't I, time to stop drooling...

Only done it once so far. Great.

Had to walk that rock at 4:13.

I think it is the one with the arrow drawn on it.

(Is it a dangerous rock or not too serious.)

My wife mentioned an arrow on a  rock - I didnt even see it. Its slightly tricky there - helps to go left and ride on the rock initially and then into the stony section.

My bike helps on this kind of trail. Short stem, fat tyres and 150mm travel - requires less care and forgives mistakes...

so for a complete tjnoob, show me a map to the start point of trail ?

EDIT: the music is a bit dodge - has to watch with no music

If you know where hoogekraal is (at crossing of contermanskloof road/ malanshoogte and Visserhok rd), that is all you need to know - the route is marked; so just ride and getting closer to the top of the climb, you will see the trail fork to left...http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/trails.html
