Don't even go there. It will never happen.

I am asking for 1 jeep track as a transit link through Newlands . The ranger in charge of the area resigned at the end of last month, so there is new face to deal with. Basically start from scratch.

Newlands is a trail sharing opportunity. We don't want to take over.

Agree, imagine the long waffled about MTB trail around the entire mountain chain becoming a reality. You could ride, stay at BnB's along the way and be off the roads. Eish, maybe one day...

I'd love a skills / bridge area to be built in Tokai.  The one that I went on at Whistler was amazing!  Very technical, difficult to get just right but when you get it, it feels amazing!

Some very narrow, some wide, some with see-saw pieces, some where very slow speed balance is needed - something for everyone, but loads of fun.

Once it's built there would be minimal ground impact, and having something like that would for sure bring people in.

Chances of this happening?  The way I see it now, almost zero...

But it would be nice.   :whistling:

Totally possible and supported by the area manager. Expensive but possible.

Fynbos is a fire-dependent vegetation that needs to burn around every 15 years to stimulate new growth and ensure that plant and animal communities remain healthy. However, because of the proximity of houses to the TMNP, often fires that would be beneficial to the vegetation are extinguished because of the threat to human settlement. If fynbos does not burn in about 20 - 30 years it will become moribund which could result in the extinction of some species.

While we are quoting the TMNP why not what their own site says about fynbos and the need for burns. TMNP - where are the long promised burns in the felled areas at Tokai???

Yes, will be interesting to know when/if that's going to happen in the near future

So if I go to them and say I have  R250k to invest in a skills park they will say "start tomorrow"?

"start tomorrow" will more than likely involve initial planning and finding the spot best suited, possibly the "Roots" area as it is currently being toyed with..

Can I send you the bank details?

It has actually happened in the past, no reason it cannot happen again, just saying :)

what about the quarry area for a skills park, its nice open and almost nothing needs to be excavated

shhhhhhh!

You have no idea how long this has been rattling around. Deon and I spoke about it more than 2 years ago now already. Rudimentary plans of a skills area near roots (green / blue / black with different obstacles, drops and jumps) Pump track, drop zone, etc etc...
