Covers performed better than the original......

Hope these werent mentioned before -

The Byrds version of Mr Tambourine Man was better than Bob Dylan's;

Sinead O' Connor Nothing Compares 2 U; better than Prince's;

Elvis Presley's Hound Dog better than Big Mama Thornton's (so i'm told).

I know some hippies will want to have me hanged for this but Bob Dylan may have been a great song writer but any cover of his songs would be better than him singing them.

Nickelback songs also can only be improved by covers and even then why bother?

I think many will agree with you, but some Dylan songs just need Dylan.

It's like Neil Young, I love that mans voice and the wife hates it.

Dylan and Niel young, 2 amazing songwriters, I've just got hold of the Basement Tapes, a collection of Dylan songs taped in the late 60's after a motorbike accident with The Band, well worth a listen, 6cd's and 139 songs. Can't listen to Dylan at the moment- overload

2 punk covers, not as good, but different

and the pistols, good for a laugh, along with their version of Friggin in the Riggin

Then the Stones singing a song they swore they'd never cover, and doing a good job of it too
