I train quite a bit indoors, can't get out on the road during the week. I have I Vortex trainer with my old Cervelo sitting on it full time so that I am not forever taking a bike on and off. For the last year I have been using my wife's laptop to run the software as it woul not run on my Mac, ( windows partition in place). Understandably she has been bitching that she never gets to use her laptop. She does have a tablet though. So for Christmas I bought myself a 20k desktop Dell with all the bells and whistles. While the Tacx software ran quite happily on my wife's crappy laptop it will not run on my new PC. I have updated the software to version 4.13 but still won't work. Has anybody had similar issues and any solutions. I have contacted Tacx support and they sent me the links for the updates.

1. the TTS software license can only be registered & linked to 1 machine only!

Did you "disconnect" the license that's on your old machine?

2. IF #1 was not the issue; If you've installed 4.13, had you run the diagnostic to check the connectivity of the PC and with the trainer?

I have thought about it, but that is at least another 10k to fork out?

I am at a point where I dislike Tacx intensely.. But you get stuck with it, download videos etc. and you are invested in the hardware and software.

How much is the investment in a Cycloops?

1. I have disconnected / unlicensed the old PC. The new ver 4.13 software did not ask me to put in the license code. When I run the software it says " migrating installed videos" I let it run the whole night last night so about 15 hours in total. Nothing happened.

2. I have the Tacx diognostics tool but it just gives me the PC specs. I can't run any diagnostics. Is there another way to do it?

if you were not asked for a license code then there is a licensing issue with the pc and software. Tacx will send you a new license code if you email them the old one.

I have the old tacx,, bullet proof

Bought the new bushido and new PC for it specifically, bought all the software and and,,,,sold it got tired of the software drama and drama

Bought a cyclops initial cost for the unit itself that's it, no drama, nevaaaaa software issues, quick start, any ride anywhere in the world never an issue

Simply cannot compare the units, whenever you see TACX there is a question about issues with software glitches, and as said above there is a LEKKE group ride every now and then

Long story short what ever issue you are currently fighting with you will get it sorted only to run into another one, for easy simple system get a cyclops

I've bought a Tacx Fortius in 2005 when software was v1 and there were no other players in the space. Upgraded to v2 then TTS2, TTS3 (stayed on this longer than I should have as Google GPS stuff was free) and a month ago TTS4, on a few different PCs as the OS has evolved from XP. If I say I've had one drama with software I'd be like a Grand Tour winner who says he doesn't dope.

But I do know other users have had issues, have helped quite a few guys get up and running after glitches, but nothing that was left unsorted.

The upgrade to 4.13 was effortless except for buying the ANT+ adapter to get rid of the flaky Polar HR belt.

I've used RLV (Tacx films), VR, Real Life Video (Now GPS Rides) but the real benefit comes from Catalyst. Never used the multiplayer stuff.

Share the trainer with my wife, one rear wheel with blue tyre swapped between bikes, so fair to say a well used machine over 10 years. Except when I was going through one of my fat phases....

Only issue I've ever experienced is the roller gets a bit noisy, simple fix with a little epoxy and a drill every 6 months or so.

Before the latest upgrade I looked at all the newer alternatives and decided to stay with my Fortius.

I guess we like what we are used to.

ditto, I bought an I-magic in 2002 and had some trouble initially getting it running. Bought a better pc and loaded Fortius and haven't looked back.

13years later the brake is still going fine. Having a bit of difficulty getting the older video's working now (tried that lunicus download but RLV just gets stuck on the initiating page).

Brakes needs to be calibrated before every ride if you want meaningful power data but can't say I've had any software issues since Fortius. On TTS4.14.1 now and it just gets better

Just check if the drivers are installed correctly. This was the main issue when I changed computers to get it working. Once I downloaded the new driver and installed that no further issues.

Same drama with the Tacx, was never sure it would work, when I got on the bike, took it back a few times to the bike shop, got sent out and repaired, got it back worked a bit and then the software would not not work or some other problem.

Got a Cycleops, had it for 7 months now, not a single issue, download videos for free and just ride. Many more videos available to ride. Gives me much better resistance that the Tacx.

The Tacx looks great, its all full of colourful plastic bits, but when it comes to the software nothing but problems.
