There is a lot of useful info on this thread and I have learnt a lot from some very knowledgeable people that have posted on here. It really is worth the time and effort to read through and try and process the info that is available.

Remember with Netflix etc you will now need more data. Uncapped with mweb is not actually uncapped.

Crazy why they call it that then.

so how much data? I know this is usage dependent.

My Usage last month was just shy of 1Tb

but that's games, YouTube, Netflix and downloads.. I would say anywhere from 250Gb to 1TB is easy to go through depending on amount of users and connected devices..

the 3 proceeding months to that I used an Average of 500Gb

I think it's relative to your line speed, the faster your line the higher quality the streaming will be.

With netflix you can download shows, maybe download a series if your friend has lot's of cap etc.

I also share my internet with neighbours... Wifi extender in window so that they can connect.

I'll give you a different perspective on usage.

Wife and I stream between 1 and 2 hours a night.

The kids probably do about 90 minutes a night.

A little bit of youtube from the older child.

None of the streaming is higher than 720p quality though.

I'm not even using 100gb a month, normally its around 70-80gb.

Sp dont let the numbers quoted in this thread scare you, its not difficult to use the numbers others have quoted, but its also not a given that you will use that kind of data.

Excuse my ignorance but what to you mean mweb is uncapped but not actually uncapped?

What uncapped would you recommend then that has no "fine print" ? I'm very new to this lot.....

So would a smart TV negate the need for an Android box or is there some use in having them working in conjunction?

My preference is the box. Samsung for example do not offer some apps that I use like Kodi or RedbullTV. We use the Netflix app on the TV but only because the current box doesn't support it.

They have a soft cap so when you get to your fair usage limit, they throttle your line speed.

I am with Afrihost Premium uncapped and have not yet been throttled. (No fair usage limit) however on Home Uncapped I think you get throttled form 250Gb. Just read the fine print and ask the questions [emoji1303]

2 adults, 1 teenager and a 10 year old go through between 800Gb to 1Tb a month. We don't have DSTV or watch SABC. All or viewing and music is streamed from various sources (mainly Netflix, Youtube, Mobdro and RedbullTV. What we can't stream we will download) with both my sons gaming on a PC and a console respectively. We all have smart devices connected to Wi-Fi and my wife does a bit of work in the evenings.

Our setup uses a lot of data but seems to mimic a lot of other people's usage.

We used to get by on 200Gb which was eventually increased to 400Gb and then Home Uncapped and now Premium Uncapped. You make do with what you have got. Eventually as your lifestyle adapts to the content available you will use more but that depends on your requirements.

Start small and increase as needed. 250Gb should be OK as a start though.

Just make sure you understand the fair usage policy and what the different packages offer. You generally get what you pay for.

Thanks for the advice and info. Appreciate that.

It's only me and my 7yr old son so will definitely check out the options carefully...
