Struggling with Tubeless

Maybe I'm just having  a bad run, but does anyone have advice for me.

I fitted rocket rons front and rear on mavic tubless rims, So far I havent got one ride without a flat...

I'v had both valves replaces, I'm running ALOT of stans, and even when I get a puncture the stans just seems to spray out and seems to battle to seal.

The wierd part is, I never have a thorn or object in the tyre, its almost like the tyres magically spring a leak..

I think we found the problem

Because Stans on your face and over your behind is not enough... you need glitter as well!

But think of how pretty you will look.

Seriously I had same issues with some other sealants also... all the sealant exited through the hole and I had a flat anyway. I generally stick a plug init if it does not seal...

Which ones? The thinner the tyre, the harder it is for sealant to plug any holes. I've never had issues with Stan's not working in any of the Snakeskin Schwalbes.

IMHO you have two problems

1. Rocket Rons

2. Stans

BTW what pressure you running?

Rocket rons that are not 100% tubeless i.e. the lightweight ones tend to leak through the sidewall rubber in the beginning, it takes some time before the sidewalls seal.

The side walls on these lightweight tyres are very thin almost porous....take the wheel off pump it up to max pressure +/- 45 psi (not higher otherwise you might hurt your ear drums / eyes) and hold the wheel horizontal  to the ground, let the sealant swish around contacting the side walls and then look closely you will see little bits of sealant leaking through pin prick size holes in the rubber. Repeat and repeat as you seal some holes more will appear.

Or don't be a weight wheeni and just buy the slighty heavier 100% tubeless tyre

Try 'tubeless' tyres, I find they work better! Otherwise, make sure you clean the inside of any new tyre before use as they use an oily resin in the manufacturing process that can stop the slime bonding!

Well you have a great set of rims IMO. I run Mavic 819's and following your question about tyres I use Conti. Race King on the back and a Mountain King on the front with SlimePro sealant and I have not had a flat yet in 4 years! Nice thing about the slime is that it does not stick to everything making the clean up prior to a fresh application easy. Remember to smear a bit of vaseline to your valve to keep the slime from sealing it. I run 1.1 bar up front and between 1.1 and 1.2 in the back, I am a featherweight at 95 kg's.

I've ran Stans with Rocket Rons, but on Syncross Wheelset, no issues at all, I recently replaced the back wheel but chose Spez Fastracks for the back, I've used a couple of sealants, but Stans still top of my list,

take soapy water and wet the wheel with it and see if you can see bubbles forming

Did you shake the bottle of Stan's before you put it in the tyre?

The little latex bead things settle at the bottom of the bottle and don't make it into the tyre if you don't shake well...

Sorry if that's a repost - I got a bit lazy and didn't read all the above posts.

thanks guys.

I will pull them off again , clean them up and put in more stans.

If that doesn't work I'm off for a new set of tyres tomorrow..
