Erratic patterns as in .."I'm going , I'm going...... I have come to a complete stop!! .... ok I'm going again..."

As in he was walking around, not just riding straight down the road.

Since it's Friday I just tried some Strava spying.  Nobody from yesterday morning said "rode into a parked car", but more importantly, nobody had erratic patterns or speeds around the crash zone.

Aaaah, so it was just a regular asshole.......

Its creating a bad name for Shell, maybe they could help identify??

Often these corporates have more than 1000 pieces of kit distributed over 2 or 3 years(think Argus corporate groups, etc). Are corporates now expected to keep a register of who kit was distributed to? I also just remembered that I donated some old kit to PPA's initiative to distribute old kit to less fortunate riders. What now? Do I need to inform Sanlam and Nedbank that I should be removed from their register?

there is no register to whom the kit was deistributed too. Also if I look at the kit in question its at least a few years old. Their latest kit is mostly white.

someone needs to enhance those pictures...who knows..if we pass it through an image enhancement package we might be able to see all his details from his ICE bracelet reflected off the hubcap

what about the strand of hair which transferred onto the glass after a vehicle drove over it & deposited it at the top of Smitswinkel, surely that can be used for DNA analysis?

The kit can't be traced and shouldn't be. The onus is really on the guy or his mates. So how does he contact her.....I can publish her number so that it's not so public....anyway just a sad silly thing that's going to cost another person....trust issues.

watched a bakkie reverse into a parked car outside lower Tokai forest. the driver really contemplated driving off till he saw me approaching him with my phone in hand and taking pictures.

Suddenly he became a moral citizen

Look let's face reality here.

Car covered by insurance, nobody hurt except the idiot.

A much as this sucks for car owner, it's doubtful that this guy will come forward, if he was a normal person he wouldn't have left I the first place.

Calling in Patrick Jane to solve this might be overkill. What are you going to do if you find him? Think about it....

Claim from the insurance, get car fixed, move on. If the guy come forward, bonus.

Ok, here is a long shot. What was the exact time of the incident? If anyone from the hub was cycling around there at the time or the peninsula, you could use strava flyby and hope the guy uses strava and look for a person who came to a sudden halt somewhere in Simonstown.

problem is that the poor owner would have to pay to activate the claim ...... not fair if you just come back and find your car damaged, but the same would apply should a car have hit that car.

sucks when you have done nothing wrong in an accident and you have to pay out of your pocket.

And the owners pocket by excess .

Yes they are also massively inconvenienced by having to get it fixed, going to the police to make a statement etc...

I'm not saying the car owner isn't the victim here. I'm just saying that they must be realistic with their expectations of this guy being found.

Do you know what her excess is? It could be anything even R10K but most likely a few thousand at least. For that type of money I would make a decent effort to find them.

Yip, it could vary and it could be huge, we don't know.

Finding him is step one, getting the idiot, who clearly didn't want to take responsibility in the first place, to then admit guilt and then pay is another story....

Again, not saying don't, saying don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
