Ride yourself into a better group to avoid getting stuck behind as you say "unskilled" riders.

The day the race can be entered by anyone with enough money and a bike, you subject yourself to sharing the trails with all sorts, complaining about it is in vain as you can't force someone to attend a skills clinic.

The unskilled rider also paid the same entry fee you and I did, and they are entitled to do the race as they see fit and feel comfortable.

you are totally missing the point of my post. In no way am I complaining about it. Unskilled riders are part of the package, but that does not mean that nothing can be done about it. My suggestion is merely to give riders an alternative to fancy swag that will actually help them improve their skills. My guess is that none of the riders that walked obstacles during the event actually got better at them. On my best / lightest / fittest I am an F -batch rider at best. I was there before and found the congestion worse than in J.

You can't wear a "I did the W2W skills clinic" sticker to every TBMBC Meeting,braai's/church etc...but the jacket you can.

Change that wording to "I got an A/B/C/...Z score in the mother of all skills evaluation test" on the sticker and you will be surprised. Any mentioning of someone's (self evaluated) abilities at a braai/church should really be irrelevant and be replaced by the result. :whistling:

Edit: change the sticker to a colour coded t-shirt to indicate A/B/C.. etc. and you will be printing money (and t-shirts)

I can only wear 1 jacket at a time, while a skills clinic will benefit me and make it safer for everyone around me.

The reality is that rider fitness increases disproportionately to rider skill because all the emphasis is on fitness.

If anyone lost a Garmin heart rate monitor I would think at Onrus Caravan Park in the showers, when I unpacked today I found it in my bag, please pm me!

Just an observation - seems to be a lot of focus from the organisers on the podium finishers (for all the categories) for the ride/adventure versions of the event. Both on social media and the prize giving ceremony in the evening.

Now I don't want to deny these okes/girls their 10 minutes of fame, but I actually quite liked the Sani2C way of doing things where very little attention was paid on the trail (and adventure I assume) to who won what, nothing at the prize givings with all the focus on the stories & experiences of the day. Leaving the serious racing snake stuff for the race version of the event.

Don't agree with you.

Every race attracts different level of riders, give them the credit they deserve, and their 10 mins of fame, they worked hard to get there, even if "there" is not very high by your standards.

Fair enough, Farmer Glen was mocking Johan Kriegler at the Sani Trail for copying the old sani templates for w2w, at least on this he is following his own head  :whistling:

I just like the more laid back approach for the non-race versions of the event, personal preference not a criticism.

Are all the days the same for all 3 events. Seems that the top 5 times in the ride were a lot quicker than day 1 of the adventure

Afaik it usually is. More competitive crowd and also different conditions plays a role. But the relaxed nature of the Adventure is probably what contributes to it being slower.

Conditions were much different.

Compare more than just top 5 results and you'll see the difference.

I remember my first Sani2C Adventure. Farmer Glen had the podium guys eat donuts for coming in hot with a sprint on stage 1. The one dude rode with his donut all of stage 2 in his back pocket and gave it back to the farmer at the stage 2 dinner "show". What I would like to see is that the seeding is done according to overall time, i.e. take all 1800 teams, seed them from 1 to 1800, allocate the first 600 to the race, the next 600 to the adventure and the last 600 to the ride.

It makes it impossible to compare. Even on the day the conditions change immensely. I stood in the start chute at 8am wishing that I was an hour into my ride before the rain came.

Word of warning it is currently damn cold at night so bring another blanket if your sleeping bag is not minus six or whatever. Last night of ride was better than the first thank god. I didnt sleep due to cold and was wearing two jerseys in my sleeping bag.

Day 1 of the adventure was 79km not 73km as there was a mixup in the route, so ja, no to the above.
