Make sure you enjoy your rides and you will want to get up and get out there! If you dont feel like 'training' then simply dont! Rather go for a ridem do some exploring and have a coffee/coke/beer somewhere along the way and just have a fun and relaxed ride! I ride 5 days a week and take 2 days off to do other things (and to keep my body happy!) such as hiking or taking the dogs out for some adventure in the veld. Some rides are early morning (I especially enjoy my monday morning rides while everyone is ploughing their way to work!) or in the afternoon after work from 4pm. Weekends I get to ride when I want so they are generally mid morning/mid afternoon rides for 3 or 4 hours. I ride alone for 99.5% of my rides but to be honest I prefer it, ride times are my time!

I have to get out of bed at 3:20 am if I want to go train, so the rest of you need to harder the f^ck up. What motivated me this morning was the fact that I ate a cr#p load of sushi last night and had way to much wine, those calories needed burning.

Thanks guys, I think getting a riding buddy would be easiest.

From previous threads on the hub it would seem that finding a riding buddy that wants to ride at the same time as you and is of the same or similar ability may not be that easy ....

This does seem to be an issue.

I think I should just stop being a fairy and go ride.

I think that is the answer!

I was just wondering what makes the rest of you get out of bed in the mornings?

What gives you the motivation to get out on the road?

I seriously battle during the week. I debated with myself this morning standing there staring out of the window looking at the wind blowing the trees, trying to justify to myself that I don't need to get out of bed and go ride!

After much discussion with the voices in my head I eventually got out there and did hill repeats, feels good that I got out there instead of just getting back into bed and "not" going back to sleep.

I've downloaded motivation videos to try and help, trying to be positive for the rides that I have ahead and setting goals for those races but it seems as though it's still not enough.

I guess the fact that I ride alone during the week doesn't help neither. No one to let down or disappoint if I don't show up, other than myself.

Any suggestions or some advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't rain in the early hours anymore except maybe on a weekend but then its never that early.

I find my bladder is a good motivation to get up, drink a glass of water just before you go to bed (the more u drink the sooner you wake up), once you awake and up that's half the battle won.

If you are inclined to get back into bed and fall asleep after having a pee you could try having a bottle of bioplus on hand in the bathroom or on your bedside table and have a swig.

Entering an event that requires some decent training to finish is motivation, or as others mentioned knuckle head strong willed friends who don't take no for an answer.

I don't want to be fat and unhealthy. Every time I see an overweight person it makes me want to do more. It is hard. Life is hard...Some days you just have to decide in your head what it is you want to be.

This...

If I don't watch what I eat and exercise regularly, I pick up weight - quickly.

Oh and I really like being fit and able to do all kinds of things that others think I'm crazy for even trying!
