I had a fenix 3 for sometime now, even rated it in early days of ownership..

Now that I am using it for trail running i have changed my mind..

same course on 4 different days..

over a 3km variance and not one of them within a 1km of other..

waste of time using it..

Interesting, I have not had similar issues.

Two questions:

Is GLONASS enabled?

Does the route include allot of wooded areas?

Have also never had any issues.  Distance pretty spot on.  Have had or two occasions (in almost 2 years) where the ascent was off but then I was running without Glonass on and also in a heavy wooded area.

quite heavy wooded in 1st 1km, then open track.

Now that the 5 is out I have just received my 3 hr, what is the correct setting to record a gym session on as I can't seem to find a cardio as per older Garmin. My gym does include a 2km trail run as it's warm up. Thanks for any advice

I had some variances on running a regular route (nothing as dramatic as 3km though) but found this to be due to me not waiting for the RED (satellite finder) indicator turning to GREEN. Once I discovered this operational error, it's all sorted. Just a thought.

Read that DC Rainmaker waits another 20 or so seconds before starting the activity.

If you think that's bad don't get a 5.

Have had mine for 2 weeks now and the Wrist Based HRM is ...well shockingly sh!te.

Wore a 3 and 5X at the same time for various exercises and tried different positions and tightening of the strap but still with variances of between 20 and 60 bpm.

So if you're not getting the Strap, don't get the 5.

Is the 5 compatible with the Normal HR straps?

Is the 5 compatible with the Normal HR straps?

As far as I know, I have the HRM-Tri and it is with that so I suppose / assume it will be the same for the Run and Swim as well. Dunno bout the older ones but should be as it has Ant+ and Bluetooth Smart.

Hi Everyone

So this weekend I rode the Lionman race while wearing my Fenix 3hr.

The course, especially at the beginning was rocky as MTB rides are and with in the first 20 km, it felt like the watches straps (the metal part mainly) was eating through, skin, muscle (the little that I have on my wrists) and bone.

I have had this on previous MTB rides, however not this bad.

Is there a different type of strap available that I can buy to prevent this, but at the same time, still use the HR component?

I have small wrists, in the region of 17 - 18 cm which i'm guessing plays a part in the pain.

Thanks
