It is terribly sad but please remember that 3 people actually died in the bus too. There didn't seem to be too much sympathy for them - people were too busy trying to work out who was to blame.

Yes it is a terrible tragedy and made even worse by the inaccurate reports.

It sounds like Linda was really badly injured and would have suffered for years had she recovered, not that that really makes her death any more acceptable. Puts life into perspective does it not. Out enjoying your favourite activity one second and the next mowed down by an unroadworthy bus. ( Yes I know we don't know that yet,  but if it was the brakes, they don't fail for no reason).

The shoddy reporting turned innocent victims into villains in the public eye.

Had I been covering the story i would have asked how the brakes could have failed and asked the owners when it was serviced... etc.

Lets hope that the authorities investigate this properly.

How hurtful must it be for her family & friends to read how she is blamed for causing the accident when she was innocently killed...

Terrible tragedy, RIP

Brakes don't fail on descents. Drivers do.

You can have the best braking system that money can buy, if you sit on them for long enough going downhill, they overheat and "fail".

It's irrelevant, this poor woman cyclist and bus passengers are dead ~ that's all that matters

You speak from experience?   Surely we should be trying to prevent repeats. That is all that matters IMO.

RIP. Life is short. Prayers to her family and friends, her training partner who remains in a life-changing condition, and those from the rugby community of Franschhoek who either lost their loves or were affected by the accident.
