"I" back in the lead with 14!

Might be 15. I'm still considering whether I shouldn't leave VC and just come join you guys instead. Will be a lot more fun.

We (my club) wore our NSPCA shirts on Friday as we wanted to get a feel for the conditions during the heat of the day (in a black shirt). Sadly it rained (or was overcast, so that test failed miserably. But they are really cool shirts. attachicon.gif20151019053111.jpg

Gave my shirt a 75km test ride today cos it was sufficiently hot....cool as a cucumber.

I think it even made me a bit faster!?!

Come on Bud, You know you want to. Think of it as some good samaritan work, come help Hayley, myself and the rest of the "I" TEAM reach a sub 3 for the 1st time.

Sounds like a plan mate. What's your start time again?

I'm only driving back on Monday, so I've got all day :).

OK I'm in  .

so there's 3 weekends left.

aiming hard for a sub 2h40 (first time out of A this year), hoping to get some power numbers from the A bunch regulars to see if I have a fair shot at achieving my goal.

I have been doing some specific power training (kickr - not on road unfortunately) trying to simulate race conditions by varying the length and intensity of intervals and resting of what I believe simulates the route.

Gelrald has done a great job of posting times on all the major hills, but I don't live in Jozi no more, so I can't really go and "test" myself against those hills/sections to get a feel.

Anybody out there willing to post their weight and then put some power numbers to the various sections e.g.

M1 - 25 minutes @ 240 W average

Pooks hill - 4 mintutes @ 330 W

...

Cedar rd - 6 minutes @ 300

or something along these lines so that I can sort of emulate sections of the route on my kickr?

For us in "I" batch , S!!T just got real.

I think 3h in a decent bunch is very doable BUT from Cedar to the end a bunch won't help much. Then it gets really real...

Especially when you ride the left turn gravel strip into Steyn City (current status).....might be time for a TdF-style bike change at that point.... :whistling:

Ja, my role as super domestique for the I-Team will be to do all the work for them in the first 70km then drop them off at Witkoppen and it's up to them from there.

I'm afraid I'm not answering your question here but just an FYI - its pretty well documented on the interweb that the kickr reads about 10W higher than most power metres (crank, hub or pedal based) so just keep that in mind when comparing to numbers guys give in answer to your question.

The internet - first to give unhelpful answers to questions you didnt ask.

I'm right with you for the first 70m (not a typo....)!
