Tokai and Silvermine to remain closed to the public

Unfortunately not.

After a meeting today the picture is somewhat clearer, but not one that is going to get SANParks heading up anybody's Christmas Card list.

Silvermine East is opening on 1st September, so you are good to go if you want to hike, walk the dog etc.

Silvermine West (the bit we are interested in) is only scheduled to open again on 1st December.

So while parks were telling us Silvermine would be open from September they conveniently forgot to mention it wasn't the part you can actually ride in. They are good like that...

If anything changes we will let everybody know.

And yes I am pissed off too.

Tokai MTB interacts with SANParks. Why would they not give you the right information?

 

I deal with gov depts all the time. if you don't ask very clear very specific questions you get nowhere.

Sometimes it feels like a game of 20questions...but thats the way it needs to be if you want meaning to the interaction. You also have to be prepared for the ambiguity and ask clarifying questions.

From what you posted it appears the TMTB reps took some information at face value.

We asked the right question, they didn't supply the right answer.

I have spent hundreds of hours of my own time dealing with them and other TokaiMTB issues and it pisses me off when someone with absolutely no clue as to what has been said and done makes a stupidly incorrect statement and puts it across as fact.

All very well but he was asked directly in our previous meeting "when will we be able to ride at Silvermine again?".

The answer was September. He knew what we were asking, who we were asking for and why we were asking.

It isn't your fault he didn't answer truthfully, he chose not to.

There really is no need for you or Deon to defend yourselves.

 

What most of these keyboard warriors don't care to even consider is how much time and effort you guys have put in just to allow us the right to come back. Whatever you do will not keep some from having some sort of 1 upmanship.. got 60km of trail? If you had any sense you would have got 65... blah blah..

 

SANparks don't care if we ride there again. They will all get paid the same whether we do or don't and this just creates work for them. On a whole they will benefit financially, but jo bloggs dealing with this earns a salary and doesn't ride so doesn't care.

 

All I would like to say is THANK YOU for your patience and the huge amount of planning and effort you guys have put in.

 

I think everyone should do the same instead of bashing away uninformed and unwarranted.

Or ask Deon his opinion of my approach to the process and meetings, because unlike you he does actually have some knowledge.

Or alternately you can continue making baseless accusations and snide insults, something you seem to pride yourself on.
