NotSoBigBen Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I need a power meter, oh wait, I don't need it anymore. I am getting really confused now and all I want is to get stronger on my bikeI gathered from this here thread that you should just go ride your bike lots with your mates and you'll get fitter and hence faster ..... easy peasy
RocknRolla Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I gathered that you should not believe everything you read on the internet- I believe Abraham Lincoln said the same.
LOOK695 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I gathered from this here thread that you should just go ride your bike lots with your mates and you'll get fitter and hence faster ..... easy peasyDon't have lots of mates here who cycle
namibquest Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Yip; go Lefty is either an agent for stages or else he/she just likes to stir ****! Lefty, I wont hide behind fancy names - mail me on russell@expo.com.na and I'll provide you with ample proof. In fact, you have opened this can of worms - anyone else can mail me; I've place my details out there as opposed to Go Lefty. I will provide you with at least 6 people who ride with me who have an issue with stages right now. You post here as if you are well endowed in terms of who the main players in stages in SA are? Well then put your product where your mouth is - contact me and I'll give you proof from other users. If not, we'll know you are full of **** - either big mouth linked to the company or else just someone who feels they always have something to say. Whatever, I'll make sure I'll post it here - GoLefty; the pressure us one you my friend! Put your money where you mouth is!!
namibquest Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 My apologies to the rest who actually are interested in an educated response. Bottom line - you serious about improving, get a power meter, good coach and the results will follow. There is a reason why ALL the Pro's and top amateurs go this way. Yes, if you have no interest in this, then don't bother yourself. GoLefty is either super talented or else just a prick who likes to stir! You have my contact details sir - mail me and I'll provide you with all the proof you need!
V12man Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Petrie? Omnico is the local distributor as far as Stages in concerned. Who is Petrie?I have a few pals who have purchased Stages and none have the problems you're having
V12man Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Petrie works for omnico - looks after stages brand for them.
TALUS Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Petrie works for omnico - looks after stages brand for them.Correct
DJpak Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Power meters.. U can use it on ur indoor trainer too;;;;
GoLefty!! Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Petrie works for omnico - looks after stages brand for them.  Ah cool.  namib dude, I have no dog in the fight. Don't care much for any brand of power meter. Owned two, sold both as the issues when things go wrong force one out of laziness and back to first principles.  Ok you got it in for Stages. Cool man, best of luck in that quest. I don't work for Omnico, nor have any affiliation to any brand they promote. Just an ex owner of power meters. and No thanks, I don't want anything to do with you or your power problems.
Christie Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I good like to triple smaak vis post wiff a passion!This sport has become so dick swinging in the last 5 years. Never seen consumerism of this magnitude since i swung my golf bats at an expensive ball.Now you need a power meter to get fitter. Been there done that and it does vocal for fitness. What made me fitter was riding a bike I enjoy with people I enjoy cycling with. Agree. The bike industry comes up with "the next big thing" frequently compared to other industries. 29", 650b, disks for roadies, digital gears etc. It is still the same engine that has to power the machine, though.
SiriS Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 It's the same for every sport/industry. Nothing special about cycling.

But i sold it to buy the ROTOR crank based PM. It was also brilliant, BUT, i had endless probs with the battery. After 10 hours it would warn me that my batteries were running low. I tried every make of batter from every reputable bike shop. Still no luck. Guys told me it need the O ring replaced as moisture was getting in bla bla.... We changed that and guess what ? Same story.i now have the STAGES PM meter and it is brilliant.Never had an issue with the battery, water getting in....I love my stages.i also did the Epic this year (MASSIVE name drop) and i had no problem with my STAGES in the wet.My point is you may just have a LEMON. Like my Rotor was a LEMON.Im not saying ROTOR is a kuk brand, its a GREAT brand. I'm just saying mine(Rotor) was a lemon.Your STAGES may just be a LEMON.So, they are all great brands !!! Just beware the 1 out of 100 that is a LEMON.One swallow does not make a summer.....
namibquest Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Thanks Godzilla - I hope you are correct. As mentioned though, there are others who have the exact same problem. Maybe we have all got our stages from a batch that was problematic? Let's see how they deal with this. I appreciate your post however because it does give one hope.Cheers

 Just struggling to get it fitted on my new bike - but with the help of Wyatt I hope to have another go at it this week.
