I know this gonna fly in the face of popular opinion here, but I trained for IM on the small Macdonalds burgers with no ill effect. I was going to use them in the event itself however that meant buying them the day before and was not so keen to chomp 24 hour old burgers so decided against it. if I could of gotten em fresh I would have eaten them no problem.

so if ever u see some ou eating macdonalds burgers in a long cycle event or tri....that's me.....

"Osmo, says she’s a big proponent of real food versus “engineered” sports food. "

...........

:D Yup, I also wondered what the world is coming to when a Big Mac is thought of as "real food". :D

I'm going to go with Prof Tim Noakes on this and disagree with you. Not that I don't occasionally indulge in junk food but you have to draw the line somewhere.

So if I consume a 1000 calories a day more than I burn, as long as I eat whatever it is you and Prof. Woo-Woo says I won't gain weight????

What in McDonalds' meals is fake / arteficial food?  Please, I'm serious.  I really want to know.

We survived the first two nights of Epic last year on Spur burgers and chips - it was way better than the burnt offering in the dinning tent...

I eat McD's at least twice a week.  I'm in the shape of my life.  Because I exercise and don't eat the entire menu everytime I go there.

There is a big differance between being healthy, lean and fit, just because you are the one does not mean you are the other.

You could easily buy and consume  McD's food days later due to the volumes of preservatives contained in their food...you would've been fine

That is not really what the prof is saying.  He says that look at your overall intake through the day.  People loose weight because they stay fuller for longer and thus eat less a day (eat when you are hungry) thus lowering your total calorie intake a day.  If you want to lose weight the age old "in vs out" still counts.  Even on banting you will still pick up weight if you eat high calorie meals 6 times a day (how many times i used to eat a day before this)

Yeah McD's are the bomb for healthy living, its not really processed and none of the additives are difficult to pronounce. The MSDS for some of the additives read like a friggen nuclear plant warning board...

I'm no hippie, but eating that or a Wimpy burger for that matter has no benefit other than filling a hole in your gut...

The point I was trying to make though is that he does advocate healthy eating and not eat what you like as long as the calorie count is ok.

Fully agree with that, and thats why i say being lean or fit does not mean you are healthy which is the ultimate goal i would think (or it is for me)
