OP, you should have left this topic for friday

So we should only eat Mcdonalds on Fridays?

Id rather eat roadkill than Mc Donalds

Drive-Trhu and Drive-over....equally convenient!

Nearest Mac is 100km away, so I really need it when I get there, the trip home is looong!!!

Maybe I missed something, but no one has mentioned SUPERSIZE ME, or the JAMIE OLIVER EXPOSE OF Macs.

Both are worth watching.

What about it is crap?  Seriously, please provide me with a rational explanation of what ingredients in their food is per se unhealthy (consumed in normal healthy quantities) orless nutritional than other forms of the same food types?

Very high sodium content is the biggest problem.

Processed starch = low fibre content and is calorically dense.

High sugar content (not relevant on the bike or for recovery) but at all other times.

High saturated fat content.

The food has no redeeming features other than some protein and sugar for recovery but will fail any other examination as to health benefits.

Additives like colorant and preservatives which pass FDA approval but have no health benefits and may have health risks. Aspartame in the diet soft drinks for example.

Last time I checked the Olympic Athlete villages all host a massive McD's eatery which is a big hit amongst the athletes.  Pretty sure if this was such a contoversial issue, they'd stay away.

And yes, I know the athletes usually wait till after their items to go and pig out there.  But that is more because they are on an incredibly strict dietery plan for weight and muscle management, rather than "McD's is poison".

Edit: Spelling

the olympic village is a mass catering logistic operation. AFAIK mcdonalds as a sponsor do some of it, BUT they don't do their off the street menu. You get a chicken stir fry, not a big mac.

What in McDonalds' meals is fake / arteficial food?  Please, I'm serious.  I really want to know.

Here are the problems, not fake but processed food like a big mac has:

24 gr of fat 10 of which is unsaturated.

2425 mg sodium!!!!

9 gr of sugar and only 3 gr of fibre.

don't watch the whole movie

Yup good reason not too it's full of crap: http://benhessel.com/fathead/

It seems like everything these days is bad for you, sugar is bad, this causes cancer, that causes this. I'm over it. While I do need to lose some weight (Damn you quitting smoking). I will just ignore all these things and enjoy life while living a moderately healthy lifestyle (everything in moderation). And if the occasional Mcd's or Burger King or Whatever ends up killing me, srew it I lived.
