He's rather confident:

"It sounds a bit horrible to say but I could break the record tomorrow. But I don’t just want to break it, I want to put it right up there, as far out of reach as I can," Wiggins told The Times. "I've got 55km in my head and I think it’s realistic. And I think if I do it, it will stand for 20 years.

"

"I know I can average 430 watts for an hour, do that tomorrow," Wiggins said. "The challenge is dealing with the heat, the crowd, pacing yourself early when the crowd are egging you on. Not doing a Gerrard and coming on, booting someone and getting sent off in a minute. It's about control, lap after lap, for 220 of them."

he is not my favourite, and its crazy what gets you a sir these days but,,,,,the amount of testing they do and the amount of times they get probed and tested, i dont think its arrogance or over confident more just like they have probably simulated or done it a few times already,,just my 2c AGAIN NOT MY FAVOURITE way too british and boring

I never liked the guy but he has grown on me a bit. The way he had handled being shunned by Sky (not whining like a spoilt brat) has given me some respect for him.

I think he's going to smash it!

I'm with you Squier, also couldn't stand him but he has grown on me. Really enjoyed seeing him at Paris Roubaix and without the pressure of leading Sky.

Britain is an extremely diverse place I lived there for 25 years and I couldn't  think how I would describe someone as being too British let alone disliking them for it. I actually think he is a pretty funny guy he has a dry sense of humour that I accept many won't appreciate.

Wiggo is the BOSS !!!!

But that's just cos I like time trialing and the track pursuit both of which Brad, as I call him, is World and Olympic champion.

Man you've gotta love him. 'Boring' would be to have an interview which rolled out all the cliches "I'll give it my best", "It's all about my preparation". Nope... Sir Twiggy of Wiggendom comes out and backs himself, says he's there to smash it and has built a green house in his garden to sweat up on rollers.

What ever you might say that isn't a very british attitude very few people have the balls to back themselves properly and I think it's classic.

He seems difficult and a bit to handle but you can't mess with his record in cycling he's covered most things in a era where people are specialists and stick at that. He's a world champ, won the tour, was one of the better GC riders for sky last year, gave Roubaix a tonk, killed it in the velodrome and the olympics and is taking on the hour. Not that many others about doing that.

But he can come across as a bit of a tool if you take him too seriously and can wind people up! :)

Question is how close can he get to Boardmans 56.375 km?

And will he shave for the attempt?

Who really cares......don't like the knighted one much.He has the same attitude as LA.I have seen how he treats his fans at the races

He is setting the pace for Spartacus and Tony Martins.

Really like Wiggins, and he is a top class cyclist. I also appreciate a dry sense of humor, and I like how he is different. Not afraid to be who he is.

I started to change my mind a bit about him when he made his speech on the podium in Paris and he turned and addressed it to the crowd rather than the VIPs. Apparently he was the first rider to do that.
