Keep your body centered, and absorb the hits with your legs and arm, like this

To me, manualing is one of the basics! We talking about hopping or Ponking it at 50km/h, but you can't manual for a short distance? Thats very worrying.

You should ride within your limits if you can't tackle obstacles correctly at 50km/h, you need to then slow down accordingly.

Coming down the blockhouse descent at 50km/h there is only one thing on my mind - "survival". Thinking of hopping - pronking or manualing over the water run-off would not even come to mind. Bend the knees and keep everything flexible and watch the brakes afterwards. Call me chicken!!

Pre-jump and land on the back side. Start at a reasonable pace and work your way up.

Launching off the face of those things is almost impossible in most cases, the change in gradient is too steep. One of them will stop your front wheel dead and you'll end up face first in the emergency room.

100%. Pre-jump is muuuch better.

That goes for speed bumps on the road too.

Those water bars are shaped all wrong for descending. The uphill face is steep so you cant just roll them like a small jump. Last time I rode there I tried manualing off them. Google how to manual. You don't need to be able to manual like a pro ie wheelie down the mountain, for it to help with your riding. Its just the way to get the front wheel off the ground at speed and the first move in doing a proper bunny hop. Also, lower your seat, far less chance of being bucked off...
