Trail Hardtail 29er

Good Day.

I am looking of buying a more trail orientated hardtail (29er) but there is not much to chose from in the current market.

My current best option is a Silverback Sola 1 * the head tube angle is just still a bit to steep. I was wondering how it would perform with a 120/130mm fork like an Rockshox Revelation dropping it just a little more into the trail category.

Do you guys think it will mess up the intended geometry of the bike? or still be a good ride?

Cotic Solaris. Problem solved.

True but then I need to import the frame. I had a look at a Banshee Paradox and Chromag Rootdown and it works out much more expensive.

The Silverback I can buy a bike and just change the fork.

Putting a 120 / 130 fork will slacken the head angle by a degree or so, but it will also raise the BB height.

So while not Ideal, it will work, but the best bet is to get a frame with a slack HA and low BB to begin with, it will be worth it!

BTW, is there any specific reason it has to be a 29er? what about 650B?

edit: I see the silverback has a head angle of 71.5, so even with a 130mm fork you'll be looking at a 69 deg HA, so it will still be relatively steep even after the conversion.

So you'll end up with a bike that still has a pretty steep HA, and a high BB.

A 29er frame with a stack HA and low BB is impossible so find in SA haha... And yes there is a specific reason, all the guys I ride with are on 29ers and I struggle to keep up. Want to get my average speed up but want a more trail orientated bike.

Any suggestions on a bike?

On one parkwood frame built up the way you like to roll?

Boom!

Pretty much what the PM said ;)

Contraband Rogue is also worth a consideration, they've recently revamped their frames slightly too.

Then there's also Cotic, Surly and Salsa from Sprocket & Jack, they also have other brands/framesets available ...

Transition Trans Am 29. 67.5 with a 120mm fork.

And you'll have one of the only ones in the country.
