Good Afternoon.

I would like to sort of 'lay a complaint'.  Besides for myself, various of my friends also cycling really have a problem with the youngsters (arrogant and sometimes inexperienced) that causes various falls and issues on the route (20Km).

I am sure if you would put the question out there, the replies would be overwhelming in support of my complaint.

They come past like maniacs, suddenly break in front of you on hills or sand or whatever challenge, moms stop in the middle of the route waiting for their kids - it's the most frustrating thing having these kids on the route.  And the race (20km or not) is enjoyable - besides for them.

My one Friend, Nicolette, fell 4 times on Saturday, all because of children.  Myself could go up on one hill duriing the single track because of a boy stopping midway - suddenly - and make you fall or cause others behind you to fall or affecting your time because you have to stop constantly.

I would like to make a suggestion that the primary school kids (with or without parents) take off half an hour later than the 20km adults - as with the 40km after the 75km, and the 20km after the 40km.

Please consider and test this complaint and suggestion with other members (not parents or primary school kids themselves).

The highschool boys are just plain arrogant and a pain - but at least a bit more experienced ...

thank you in advance.

Regards, Lizel.

Ok...so this is what happened...

OP shaved legs, put on Chamois Cream, Drank USN Epic mixed with a bit of USN NRG BOMB, put on "Eye of the Tiger", put on Lycra, Put on aero helmet and went to RACE!

Kiddo past her. Kiddo bailed.

OP lost  strava QOM.

OP pissed off cos some kids are trying to step out of there comfort zones and better themselves.

OP finished 876th in the fun ride race instead of 834th.

Does this sound about right?

Hei Shame.

Whilst we're at it, pls ban women also pls or have them start an hour later. If I have to sit behind a slow girl on single track in a 50km'ish length race once more I'm going to crack. :P

Well, that's exactly what they did at Sani a year or so ago.......a reverse start on day 3.........and the racing girls overtook us a 100 m from the finish.......after starting a whole hour after us......not something that make you feel uber tough and manly   :whistling:

Maybe because they are children there is a fantastic chance that they are not experienced? Even so if you are riding the 20km (which awards prizes to the children) you should maybe advance to a proper race where maybe you and your friend should judge the riders in front of you. Either way (if they are children or not) you should respect tge rider in front of you and if they are faster than you, you have to move over. It's just the way the sport is.

Everyone has to start somewhere OP.  Maybe work on your skills a bit and get your mates some elbow protection for falling over while riding 2km/h because they cannot pass the 8 year olds.  Let the kids race, maybe you should hang back and start 5 minutes later.

......wait till those young, skinny, underweight, no muscle definition, with cycling kit two sizes too big, start going past you on climbs.........with a smile and friendly "Môre oom"........now that is something to get pissed about.......and that is only the girls.

Sooo true  :(

Exactly how I read it as well. Except there never was going to be a QOM for the OP.
