fanievb Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 ok you can just tell the lawyers that http://www.theguardian.com/media/2004/jun/15/pressandpublishing.cycling and FYI Serena Williams isn't a sportsman and later you can write a book about it, of which someone will then make a movie https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/articles/videos/lance-armstrong-%E2%80%98the-program-movie-trailer-r2739
Steven Knoetze (sk27) Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I think it was human growth hormone, he would have been 4 foot 7 inches otherwise, not joking. That explains the ears......... Jokes aside, I heard from a pretty reputable source, that one of the rugby players on your list was alledgedly left out of the 2007 RWC because he would've been found to have doped. He was omitted for "an injury" if I remember correctly.Might have been BS though, who knows. What are your hopes from the poll, if I may ask? Seems a bit pointless.

Snytjie Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Why would my wild, unproven, shot-in-the-dark, naive guesstimate of who dopes and who doesn't matter at all?

Steven Knoetze (sk27) Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 at least i am not alone Looking at the list it's pretty obvious Phelps doped although he stood while taking them and it all went to his feet!!!
Rocket-Boy Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I believe they all dope, all sports. The games are all open to being bought. They always have they always will. I'm never disappointed. Armstrong was and still is the best that there ever was. He was the best doper, he was the best cyclist. They were all on the dope, he beat them all, simple. Its not that simple, people react differently to doping. Its like the tired old thing where people say they should all just dope to make it equal. It will never be equal because it doesnt have the same effect on everyone.

Interested to see and possibly understand peoples perceptions... as Cyclists we've long been tarred with the doping brush (rightfully so I'd have to say), but most people generally seem incredibly naive when it comes to their own sporting codes etc. I guess having this on a cycling forum distorts the views (as apposed to say being on the Sports Illustrated website), but it's good to see people are waking up, although you will still get many telling you Alberto is clean etc. There is no real answer to where we can go... but hopefully awareness and discussion of the doping problem in sport will open up channels to limiting it in the future. But that's the optimist in me. For the large part I can't see much ever changing, we have good testing in cycling relative to other sports, but where has that gotten us? Nowhere it seems, just with a reputation as a doping sport. As has been proving many times before, and seems to be the default for most sports - if you don't test, you don't catch dopers and as such you don't have a doping problem. I guess only Wada can really ease our minds - but it's likely they will always be two steps behind
Andrew Steer Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Where big money is involved, there will always be cheats That's the thing, how do you drive competition without basically "nudging" people to look for the illegal edge or take a short cut? In competitive sport, the difference between first and 10th when it comes to payday is generally huge.
T-Bob Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Why would my wild, unproven, shot-in-the-dark, naive guesstimate of who dopes and who doesn't matter at all? Because this is the home of wild, unproven, shotin-the-dark, naive guesstimates and opinions. It's the hub!
Andrew Steer Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 The answer is in here somewhere... http://thedirty.com/read-more-dirty/cristiano_ronaldo_continues_his_sexcapades_in_la_with_tina_powers/wtf

SwissVan Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Where big money is involved, there will always be cheatsOnly partially true, I've come across a few cheats including dopers who never made a cent out of sport or wanted to. It's human nature to cheat if it will help achieve a goal. Some just resist it more than others.
velomonatiCT Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 yes I see this thread has deteriorated from minor baseless prejudice to just really sad major baseless prejudice which isn't even witty happy Friday guys
