Hi guys

So I had my Specialized Comp Carbon weighed at my LBS yesterday... 14.87kg!  So I want to trim this beast down a little bit and need some esteemed Hub help please.

Custom Formula C1 Racing brakes provide great braking power and modulation, while the Specialized Ground Control tires maintain traction and roll fast

Shimano XT Shadow Plus long cage, 10-speed rear derailleur is tough, lightweight, and delivers pinpoint shifts

I made the following upgrades:

1) XT brakes

2) XT front derailleur

3) About to change to XT shifters

Where else can I shed some decent weight?

Thanks!

Go Carbon on the handlebar, stem and seatpost and you could also have a look at XO carbon crank.

Then it starts getting very much expensive.

Not sure of the weight on the Roval wheels, but you could have look at something like Amercan Classic wheels or if you have the budget go carbon on them too.

The Fox CTD forks tend to be slightly heavier than their RoxShox counter part, you could have a look into that aswell.

Easiest ways.

Convert to tubeless.

Change wheels (they're anchors, those ones - 2.2kg) cassette.

Convert to 1x10 (remove shifter, front derailleur and cables and 2 chainrings, add narrow wide ring)

You can remove the paint too, almost for free.

Cut the knobblies off your tyres

Drill holes in stem, crank arms, seat post

Run tubeless without sealant

Sure its easier to lose 3kgs of body weight rather than 3kgs off the bike. My estimate is that knocking 3kgs off the bike will cost R20-R30k.

Ya I would say buy a new bike. I wasted so much cash trying to make a heavy bike light. Eventually bought a new bike. Sell the bike , add the cash you are willing to spend and buy a new bike. Easiest way

Lekker, I'll first go handlebar and seatpost carbon.

Also cassette yes.

Then wheels. Not sure if I should go carbon vs perhaps ZTRs or American Classics as suggested.

Might go 1x11 when the Shimanis become available later in the year.

Thanks guys!

Ok ok, I've also lost 10kgs in the last year or so...but 80 is about my natural threshold. [emoji3]

First port of call should be to go tubeless. Tubes are HEAVY!
