So lets get out there and give it to commuter, lets help them be a little more protected. Lets see how many pages of pictures we can get here of the less fortunate with their helmets on. I stopped Nicolas yesterday morning, Man was he thankful.

Pure Savage Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I was about to say, the guys that commute from Lavender Hill to Tokai via Military road would love some helmets. I have bought 3 guys helmets in the past and helped them fit it on that route. Plenty of bike commuters on that road!

There are a LOT of people cycling to work along that road. Everyone stopped was given a helmet, rear LED light and a high vis band to go across their backs.Day 1 - greatDay 2 - most had lost the sashDay 3 - quite a few were riding without helmets Now, months later I don't see those helmets anymore. Nor the lights... Great initiative, but it has to be taken up / taken to heart by the receivers.

Who can remember the helmet etc handout in Blue Hills a year or so back, it was mtn kit if I'm not mistaken. My gardener, who lives in Tembisa ~ 15km away ~ told me that those very same helmets and kit were being offered for sale in his area, one single day after they were received. The original recipients? You guessed it, still riding without helmets. The only good part of it is that possibly the odd responsible parent bought some of the helmets for their kids.
