Killer walks away

The killer of Lionel Flanegan and his wife, Lynette, walked away from court a free man due to the investigating officer being incompetent. The state could not even proof whether the cyclist where riding inside the yellow lines or not. The report was so bad, it could not be used in court. What an absolute joke.

Unfortunately this has become the accepted norm in this unjust country.

Terrible pity indeed.  Does not leave u with much hope of EVER getting justice.

Makes my blood boil!  Sorry about this.

There's a lady that works in my office in a clerical role whose daughter got run over and killed by a negligent driver.

The identity of the driver is known and fault/negligence was evident.

The matter never even went to Court.

SAPS just shrugged when she went to enquire.

No-one knows what happened to the investigation, docket or charges...

A young child is dead, many lives ruined and nothing came of it.

That's the reality of the New South Africa.

There is no way the culprit would be alive and walking around if the victim was a child of mine. I like to think I have a fairly robust personal moral code, but this would go beyond it.

More reasons to educate your kids abroad :(

more reason to be abroad...full stop. There seems to be no limit to the ridicual of the policing or judicial system in this country.

Same here mnr, but then again, I would fix the whole system...from cop, defence to judge.

This is where SA's biggest danger lies - cadre deployment leading to incompetence at every level of the state structures, riddled like the proverbial Swiss cheese. Then, if not attended to, one day the structure collapses.

I was on the scene of an accident a month ago as an eye witness.  The police officer on the scene could barely write - I ended writing my own statement for him.

I suspect this was a similar scenario - and is probably more the norm than the exception.

Very sad news.
