I still don't get the no third place thing in the one race, but hey, what will be will be. But why the need for 'delusions of grandeur' comments at a kid, or if true, a harsh telephone call and slamming the phone down by Harms Snr? System is at fault, not the kid.

Thor

the matter of the telephone call was between louis and the father not the kid, the comment about the delusions of grandeur was an attempt to highlight the improbability of the statement that the OP was making. As i mentioned i am all for a kid standing up for himself but to go onto a public forum and make unsubstantiated claims is not the right way of dealing with things.

That's precisely the issue, Face plant. But there's also 'improbabilities' seen in your version of how they run the event and who gets prizes, etc. And I myself wouldn't take the Hub route until I've exhausted the proper channels. But as I mentioned early on it seems both sides could meet half way. Hopefully the hamper will solve the issue.

Fixed.

Unsubstantiated claims are the root of all evil.

Gogo the matter of the infringement was dealt with correctly and was handled immediately, what was left is the matter of recognition of the rider.

The OP came 3rd in the Race as per the results, the problem came in that there was not a cash prize for 3rd position. only 1st and 2nd. If any, this IMO is the only contentious issue at hand. CSA in no way determines who gets prizes, that is left to the organiser. as mentioned previously the prize giving prizes are determined even before the race starts. Any body that was at the race can confirm that the podium with the prizes was set up before the first riders even crossed the line. The OP assumed that he was being victimized and therefore didn't get a prize.

The last matter is the Youth Category that was omitted from the prize giving. in retrospect the mistake has been acknowledged and as an act of good faith Spectrum sport has offered the OP the Prize hamper for the Youth Cat.

That's a good summary of the situation without any handbag slinging that may have occurred between the OP and LH en Kie.

Just for interest sakes, from what I've seen prizes were only to be paid out to 1st positions and not 2nd as posted above?

I'm guessing the OP was rather looking for the pleasure and satisfaction of going up to collect a prize in front of his race peers, rather than the receiving the actual hamper.

Moral of the story remains, no matter how minor the event this should have been sorted out correctly before the prize giving...

OP that's why its important to check the race results asap if you are competing for podium spots, don't trust anyone no matter how many events they have organized...mistakes happen

I hope i can clarify this, there wasn't a cash prize for 3rd place - coincidence! if the OP didn't appeal,  it would have been Louis jnr that didn't get a cash prize. The OP was listed on the results as a junior so he effectively would not have received the Youth Cat prize if there was one anyway. AS mentioned, the opportunity to check details on the provisional results was made ahead of prize giving, as per any event, prize giving results are final and cannot be changed after prize giving but as an act of good faith the OP can get a hamper for the Youth cat even though it was his responsibility to ensure that his info was correct.

I did check the results be for prize giving and numerous people can confirm that I did this!

And if I did not receive the prize for youth WY did the 2nd youth rider not receive it??

And that is the thing, I was the first to check the results. I stood and waited as they posted it on the trailer and I went back no less than 5 times to double and triple check (I always do)

as much as you are entitled to your opinion, and i am all for that, what you are doing now however is unfair and untruthful. I have just spoken to Louis who explained that you in fact (the father of the rider involved) were the one that was aggressive and threatened to take this matter to CSA after which louis told you that you are welcome to do so as there are NO regulations from CSA as to what the prizes must be at a race and that it is up to the discretion of the organizer to decide what prizes are awarded.

The discussion got heated after you claimed that Louis Jnr made a big scene about his time penalty. and that he changed the prize results to spite you. Louis as all of us will, will defend his child after you make a false claim like this. Just for the record, Both the winner of the 36km race and the guy that came second as well as myself where present when the commissaire told Louis Jnr that he will receive a time penalty and he accepted it graciously. You then also state that the category was youth and then changed to Junior? this is an outright lie! I challenge you to substantiate any of these claims!

Again some facts:

1.Prize money for the 35km was for 1st and 2nd place (this is the structure that Spectrum sport has used on most of their previous races) this is a contentious point and i personally understand that 3rd position may feel aggrieved about this. Spectrum sport reserve the right to review this at future races.

2. It was a mistake to not recognise the Youth cat and this will be rectified in future.

3. Please note that if this whole matter revolves around the recognition of the rider (or the father) then i take pleasure in stating the following:

Heinz Mittermaier officially took 3rd place at the 36 Km Clotan steel MTB race after lodging a protest with the race commissaire. The results will reflect on SA seeding as follows:

Pos 3 Time 01:19:12 Race Number 8375T Mittermaier Heinz M 36Km Youth M

4. Please contact me via PM so i can arrange a hamper for your 1st place in the Youth Category.

icannot rely on you to provide factual/truthful information regarding this matter and therefore i will refrain from debating this matter any further.

5. Luckily, Louis Harmse is well known in the sporting industry and everybody that knows him will attest to his character.

The tone and content of this post is so aggro. You are dealing with a kid!

The belated grudging recognition, and offer of a hamper is indicative that you / your mate fouled up, and screwed the kid out of his hard won prize and recognition. Why not just apologise to him and be done with it?

@Heinz well done on your result. Your parents must be real proud of you. And kudos to you for the way you are handling the matter.

Because the organizers forgot about the YM category

Did you report the mistake with the results BEFORE the prize giving ceremony, to who and what did they say?

Did not report the faulty results because at the time there were no faults , on the provisional results I was listed as YM
