"Does anyone have a suggestion on home remedies"

"and I need to kick this before the weekend, so any remedies that your grandma swore by???"

merely answering what he asked...has worked for me many times...but how bad his  " warmed up dead" is I dont...men seems to be more "dead" when sick, than woman

RIP English.

It's only Tuesday now.

Go see a doc. Tell him you're doing this event whether he approves or not, and he must help you to manage it.

See what his reaction is and if he thinks he can help you?

I hear what you are saying, an no obviously not. But what exactly make it dangerous to race/train while you are sick? Is it your heart that takes a lot of strain/stress, if so could I not just keep an eye on my heart rate and keep it below lets say 60%?

I will give you some free advice - go to the race and cheer the competitors on... otherwise stay in bed.

otherwise you could land up in trouble - medically speaking - cardiomyopathy is not funny....

Getting home tonight, take a hand full river sand, and mug full of Brandy.

Swallow the river sand with the Brandy, quickly!

Wait 30min

The germs will get drunk and start stoning each other with rocks!

You should be fine the following morning.

If not, repeat again, but double the dose of brandy

Is that not a banned substance?

Just be careful of overdosing

cue my favourite joke -

I usually blend 2-3 oranges with a handlebar-plug piece of ginger root with a glass of water. All blended. Nothing will make the flu disappear but you can help the body with some proper nutrients. I started getting sick 3 weeks ago (2 days before a race I WANTED to do). The actual crappy feeling lasts a week, then 2-3 more weeks with constant snot and phlegm being worked out of the body. Did Trans this weekend (after waking up with a sore throat) and now got home to a wife that's flat in bed with flu (body aches and all). Best you can do to prevent illness is to wash your hands and do not touch your face. I'm sitting here right now with a buff pulled over my mouth and nose. I'm convinced it must help to at least slightly filter out any germs that might be floating around in the air and waiting to go lodge in my throat. Sleeping next to a wife with flu is risky, but with the buff I feel a liiiiiitle safer.

Like eddy said. Flu = 3 weeks off the bike. Do some planking or something to keep your core and legs engaged. No aerobic work.

Training with the flu can result in myocarditis which is a fancy word for inflammation of the heart muscle. This can lead to heart failure and death. There is no cure for the flu. Antibiotics do not work for viral infections. You must rest, keep hydrated. Meds like Corenza and Advil CS only help with the symptoms such as fever, headaches, muscle pain and runny nose. Do not race until you have recovered in full. Take it easy[emoji4]

What always surprises me is how a lot people still use "cold" and "flu" interchangeably. Dangerous since they completely different. In my non medical opinion for the flu, forget the race and get some proper bed rest.
