Running. hm. doing second TOM an Comrades on the road. want to do both faster. Peninsula marathon is a few weeks away, a sub4 is probably achievable and would be nice. training, want to be smarter and do more offroad training. ScottCM 1

I'm the proverbial "Long time listener, first time caller" on this thread, but will just post this so that I'm held to it (or at least committed to try). I don't run long distances but my goal for the year is a sub-20min 5km. I've managed a few when I was in my 30s but I'm now in my 40s and haven't really run much for the last 5 years. But if I get fit, lose some weight and find a nice flat parkrun course, I think I can still do it. ScottCM, ChrisF and b-rad 3

Nice one - ya I've also found that the zip/spring is not really there anymore. But for now I'm putting that down to lack of fitness (and 5-6 extra kilos) and not age. I hope. But I'll have a decent crack at Zandvlei parkrun (nice and flat!) soon to see where I'm at. Another interesting challenge I heard about was doing an Alphabet of parkruns. ie: Akkerendam, Bellville, Century City...(and so on)...Zandvlei. There is no X to my knowledge, anywhere in the world. We apparently get some international tourists who do Zandvlei as there aren't many Z parkruns in the world. I think only 11, 7 of which are in Poland. Anyway, nice excuse to get out bed and go for a run if you find yourself in Aggenys on a saturday morning and don't have "A" yet.

Set my PB (nowhere near 20 minutes 😪) last month Easier than fighting your way through the Park Runners. You can then do the PR as a cool-down after. Lemme know if you want the GPX.
Stretch Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Happy New Year. Been a while. I stumbled across the thread while doing a google search for something and thought i would say hello ChrisF, IceCreamMan, SilverRider and 1 other 4

There will be faster courses than Zandvlei, it's got a bit of grass and sand and sandy molehill grass. There a few people who take parkrun tourism to extremes. I did the Y when Yzerfontein was still there (returning on a new course soon FYI). I think there is no Q, but the Queenstown one has a name like Golf course or something similar. NickGM 1

Still running. had my best ever year last year with PB's in 5km, 10mile, half marathon and marathon so it is going to be difficult to top that year! but...New age category next year, so the objective for the first half of the year is to try place in a few shorter races ScottCM 1
