GrumpyOldGuy Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Cool, thanks. I see there is one close to Tony Impey's shop. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI used that shop for years, in the corner of that small centre, always found them very good and had a good range of product. I could always get Saucony there even though its hard to find generally, not sure about now but I recon you cant go wrong stopping by there.
GrumpyOldGuy Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Ok, WRT Brooks Ghost 9's. Seems we have a design fault and I guess I will not own another 9 atleast then. I spoke to two people in the same resort as us this week that also have them. A lady that said she does not have any issues now with them, but she did have the exact same spot irritating in the inside of here foot for the first while, but then she switched to thick socks and it is fine now. Crossed another gentleman this morning on our run with them and he also can only use them on short runs, longer ones he gets the same irritation. I run with Falke AR1's so I don't know if "thick" socks are thicker then them. It's really sad actually, for everything else I love about the shoe. The ladies' husband did mention that he loved his Brooks Glycerin 13's. I see some wear on the centre of my front foot area, on the soles of my Saucony triumph ISO3's that is concerning after 50kms. Where the Brooks have more than 500 on now and still look very good for much more. I hope this is not a sign of poor poor mileage on the saucony's. I hardly see anybody using adidas, what about them?I often ran in the Supernova, felt fine, but for me most shoes are much of a muchness, if it fits and its comfortable I'll use it, to be honest I have run in virtually all the brands over the years, Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Saucony, Asics, Brooks........nothing wrong with any of them.
Barry Stuart Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2017 running year will be amazing, injury free and you reach all your goals. So my race calendar for the year: (leaving out 15km/21km races)January - Johnson Crane 42km (Didn't train as hard over Dec, so this is going to be a long day)February - Bronkhorstspruit 32km, Pretoria Deloitte's 42km (seriously stressing about this one... as it is very tough)March - Om die Dam 50km (I have a love-hate relationship with this race...)April - Two Oceans (was planning to do Loskop as well but it is a week after Two Oceans... too close to Two Oceans, so will be doing the Loskop Wild Challenge)May - Adrienne Hersch 21km and RESTING for the Big C My running goal for this year is to just enjoy running again and to feel normal while running (no nausea and no bailing at races). No time goals for 2017 at Comrades. My plan is to work towards a BR for 2018... (There, I said it out loud and in writing...) For those of us that missed the 2O entries, what is Om die Dam like? Suitable as a long distance prep for Comrades or would one need to add in a 5km there, 5km back to make it more effective? Lexx 1

Thx in advance!

Who has run both and which if the 2 would be the easier? Thx in advance!I haven't run Akasia, and I can't seem to find any info on Strava about it. I have done Johnson 3 times. It is very flat and you work all the time. Total elevation from last year was 188m.
SeaBee Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 First one for the year done! Man, Bay to Bay is such a great run when it's not howling like last year. Ran into a buddy and cruised together for most of the while. Got separated somehow just before hitting Suikerbossie on the return. But still, it was good fun and enjoyed the run and views thoroughly. Lots of work left, but slowly getting into the mood for Oceans. ScottCM 1

Jackes Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 So after our first run of 2017, I did the following to my toe before the second run. Don't ask how... I presume it will not be broken, just buggered up, although it feels like it's broken. I can barely touch it and it cannot bend. Hope it heals quickly, we need to get back into action asap now.

Suitable as a long distance prep for Comrades or would one need to add in a 5km there, 5km back to make it more effective?Om die Dam is tougher than OMTOM for me, even if it is shorter. I think it is because it is not very scenic and there are no supporters. I wouldn't add another 6 or 10km. It is a sufficient distance. Om die Dam is for me more the mental preparation than anything else. Lexx 1
