Stretch Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 What is the ideal December training for Comrades? That said Im probably doing my Qualfier in Jan, so should probably follow a marathon program over the holidays?Because I love stats That's week, 2015,2016,2017 Hacc 1
Andrew Steer Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Let me guess, u live in the big smoke Gauteng?Lots of us live in the big smoke... no antibiotics for me! I think Hacc's big mistake was antibiotics session number 1, but she was unfortunately in a tricky place. I plan to avoid that *** like the plague unless I'm absolutely desperate... no good in the long term!
Paddaman Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 What is the ideal December training for Comrades? That said Im probably doing my Qualfier in Jan, so should probably follow a marathon program over the holidays?Norrie Williamson's book Everyone's guide to Distance Running has a complete Comrades programme worked out for you, with a entire book explaining every nuance of the training plan and the thought behind each aspect. If that is not enough there are a number of training plans with critique and comments in Noale's Lore of Running. If all else fails the "run for the Toad" 50km training programme is also rather easy to follow. I would recommend reading Both Norrie's and Noake's books. All other books pale in comparison. Norrie gives lots of tips and ideas that you just will not find anywhere else.

I've only used oral antibiotics, and antibiotic eye drops once each in my life Edited December 1, 2017 by Pulse shaper 1

At this stage we at a bit of a risk we may have to actually start avoiding the plague and then that figure of speach is gonna have more depth to it... Pulse, Andrew Steer and shaper 3

Still need to give it some more thought...
Hacc Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Are we smart doing On die Dam and OMTOM two weeks apart... that's my big decision to make. Still need to give it some more thought...I was thinking the same thing while posting my dates... Last year I did both and my legs felt tired at OMTOM... I will think about it... These race organizers seriously need to talk to each other!!!

These race organizers seriously need to talk to each other!!! They're also a helluva lot closer to each other next year... I think I might take Om die Dam very easily... but that's easier said than done.

The air there is siff especially in the dry months. Perhaps HACC should get her tonsils checked (assuming she is suffering with throat infections and still has them)

SwissVan Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 The one set of antibiotics was for tonsilitis... I am considering removing them.Back in the 90’s when I was still a sub vet I had mine out. I was often getting throat infections and eventually my Dr said let’s take these things out.... Made a big difference, very few throat infections after that.

CobusV Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Mmmm, I see it is three week between Loskop and OMTOM. Tempted. 3 races for me beginning of next year (and only three):Akasia Marathon (Qualifier for OMTOM)Deloitte MarathonOMTOM No 10km races, no 21km races and no 32km races. I despise races and crowds. Will rather do a club run (especially RAC club runs!). GSNieP 1
