Joined the Strava Club... hope it helps with the motivation.

Getting back into the swing of things slowly... legs feeling solid - bio work seems to be paying off. Got an early morning training partner for two runs a week which will also really help.

Soweto half marathon this weekend - should be fun

Hey Andrew

Where are you running in the mornings?

Posted

So Swissvan... how'd you go?

One word "Disappointed"

Official finishing time was 4:31

Day started off well, woke up feeling quietly confident and looking forward to the challenge.

9:10 am start for the sub 4hr group with typical autumn weather of high mist and cool +/- 7 deg C

The plan (LOL) was to run just under 4 hrs...however from the onset it was a struggle to keep the required pace...Effort was to high (HRZ4 from Km 6) and on the 2nd lap at 25k with a little climb i could not keep up with the 4hr bus... its a *** feeling seeing them disappear into the distance seemingly with no effort...at first i thought i would catch them again after the hills but the legs never came back and it was survival mode of run walk run walk...tried to make it under 4:30 but got my last few k's mixed up thinking i had less to go and ended up being just short of the finish line at 4.30

Between Northcliff, Linden and the Botanical Gardens... my boss comes from Linden, me from Northcliff. We both leave home around 5am. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the moment... will probably build up to three mornings a week next year

Congrats on a qualifying time nonetheless Swiss. Now you can do Two Oceans as you desired.

I know it's not what you wanted... but 4:30 for a bad day is still better than many peoples good day   You're qualified, and comfortably at that - it's all good stuff!

And loads of time to get stronger heading forward...

Scott, just saying - and I might get shot for this - but the first word in the thread title should read Cyclists. Sorry, I cannot un-see the apostrophe...

Application form for membership to the Grammar Police got eaten by the dog.

Same thing here, almost died on a 21km's this Saturday....

Friday night 23:38 it was 29 degrees and on our way to the race 05:22 it was still 24 degrees.

If this is the case next saturday for our qualifying, I'm not sure how much fun that marafun is going to be!

Couldn't agree more, 4:30 on a bad day is excellent.

It was 25 degrees at 6:30 am in Pretoria this morning. Almost died yesterday on a 15km run that started at 6. According to the weather predictions, it will be cooler from Wednesday...
