Specialized Carbon Comp 2015

Hi

In the market for a new bike and saw that specialized has a special on this bike, R38 900.

I really hate the white of the spez but willing to live with it if it's a good deal.

Any ideas on weight of the bike?

The type of riding i do is lots of Jeep track and gravel roads so I want an XC 29er, no need to go through the whole "what riding you do" debate.

Also not looking at buying second hand as I've not seen any good deals, would rather spend a little extra and get the warranty,

I was also looking at the Anthem Adv 29er but those retail for R47k and the Scott 920 is also pricey,

Going to look at reviews and make up my mind just thought that i could get some advice from the Hub,

That seems a good deal. the epic alu goes for R34k, but I'm sure that price will drop. Weight, no idea, my alu epic 2014 Med weighs 12kg so I reckon that should be under 12kg. I weighed mine on a scale, only way to be sure.

I think you have a good deal on your hands, I wouldn't wait if I were you

What does the expert carbon go for? Think the biggest let down on the Comp is the wheels, and the weight. Both terrible things in the world of cycling. If you can stretch for the expert, reckon you will be happy for the next decade as far as bikes go. Epic is ideal for the riding you intend on doing. And the way the R/USD rate is moving, I wouldn't take too long on pulling the trigger on a new bicycle, regardless of what you choose.

The Epic Expert is currently going for R68k an not in my budget, upgrades i can do to the bike as time passes

I'm busy reading reviews and suprised there is not more reviews on this bike as it's so popular,

I'm still undecided though,

The comp frame is identical to the expert frame - except for colour choices - its a good choice without breaking the bank.

That is a big jump. Solid bike with great after sales support in terms of warranty claims, and at events/races.

Bought a epic comp in March and was the best buy I could have ever made. Extremely happy with mine so if you ask my opinion for your price range go for it. Also looked at Momsen Vipa and also looks like a decent bike but has a bit less travel (80mm vs 100mm if I can remember). If you have a bit larger budget would also look at the elite or expert ranges.

Why don't you post pics of the actual bike?

More than willing to post a few now!! Just wasn't at home to load some on the ad.

Pics to follow on the ad shortly.

Hi Osiris

Ask Centurion Cyclery that you want to test the bike. They have them available to test.

Speak to Graham or Gary...
